PROLOGUE

Our Service Department has received numerous inquiries regarding old vs. new part numbers for antique Harley Davidson motorcycles, so we decided to go browsing through the archives to hunt for this much sought-after information. We began a year-by-year search looking for something that we weren’t sure ever existed. We hit paydirt when we came across a gold-colored manual that read, “Cross Index of Harley Davidson Parts Numbers.” This piece of “gold” is divided into two sections – the first showing old numbers first arranged numerically and then the new numbers; the second section shows new numbers first arranged numerically and then the old numbers – up to 1951. We hope you will find this to be a useful and informative addition to our growing antique literature library. This information is as complete as we are able to make it at this time. However, our research will continue and an update will be made, if appropriate.
