GENERAL INFORMATION
- The successful Honda motorcycle is the result of a collaboration between Honda Industrial Company of Japan and an· American marketing company, Pacific Basin Trading Company, commonly known as PABATCO .
- PABATCO designed the motorcycle in 1963, with the aim of making it as simple and durable as possible. The original design was intended to be modified continually with bolt-on improvements that would allow the Honda owner to upgrade his older machine to the latest specifications.
- This design philosophy, along with the good performance, are the 2 major reasons for the success of this marque. The original design was completed by PABATCOin 1963 and production began in Japan in early 1964 on the first model of the Ace 90. That model designation was continued until
- 1967. Displacement has since increased to 125cc. and tools useful both for preventive maintenance and troubleshooting. Chapter Two explains all periodic lubrication and routine maintenance necessary to keep your bike running well. Chapter Two ·also includes recommended tune-up procedures, eliminating the need to constantly consult chapters on the various subassemblies. Chapter Three provides methods and suggestions for quick and accurate diagnosis and repair of problems. Troubleshooting procedures discuss typical symptoms and logical methods to pinpoint the trouble.
- Subsequent chapters describe specific systems such as the engine, transmission, and electrical system. Each chapter provides disassembly, repair, and assembly procedures in simple step-bystep form. If a repair is impractical for a home mechanic, it is so indicated. It is usually faster and cheaper to take such repairs to a dealer or competent repair shop. Specifications concerning a particular system are included at the end of the appropriate chapter.
- Some of the procedures in this manual specify special tools. In all cases, the tool is illustrated either in actual use or alone. A well-equipped mechanic may be able to substitute similar tools already on hand or can fabricate new ones. The terms NOTE, CAUTION, and WARNING have specific meanings in this manual.
