• The cylinder liners are made of aluminium alloy and have an inner surface that has undergone a special hardening process with nickel and silicium (Nikasil).
• Due to the extreme hardness produced by this treatment, cylinder liner wear is minimal. When removing the cylinder liners, carefully check them with a dial gauge (fig. 1 O);
• take two crossed measurements for each diameter at the heights indicated in fig. 4. – Replace any cylinder liner with a diameter greater than the maximum tolerance value.
• – Visually check the inner surface which should appear bright and free from scoring and seizure signs. Should the surface be even slightly damaged, replace the liner.
• Extract the cylinder liner with tool AV 1639. Never grind the cylinder liners as this would remove the special surface coating. Special care should be excercised when handling the cylinder liners to prevent chipping or markings on the sealing surfaces.
