SAFE OPERATION NEEDS A QUALIFIED OPERATOR
A QUALIFIED OPERATOR MUST DO THE FOLLOWING:
Understand the Written Instructions, Rules, and Regulations:
- Refer to the written instructions provided by Company, including the delivery report, loader or excavator Operator’s Handbook and Operation & Maintenance Manual, attachment Operation & Maintenance Manual, and machine signs (decals).
- Familiarize yourself with the rules and regulations specific to your location, which may include work safety requirements from your employer and local driving regulations. Also, be aware of any hazards identified, such as utility lines.
Have Training with Actual Operation:
- Operator training should involve a demonstration and verbal instruction provided by your dealer before the attachment is delivered.
- New operators should start in an area without bystanders and practice using all the controls until they can safely operate the machine under all work area conditions.
- Operator Training Courses are available for specific equipment attachments, providing information for safe and efficient operation. Contact your dealer for availability. Service Safety Training Courses are also offered.
Know the Work Conditions:
- Operators must be aware of any prohibited uses or work areas for the equipment.
- Know the locations of underground lines by contacting local utilities or using the provided TOLL FREE phone number in the SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS section of this manual.
- Operators must not use drugs or alcoholic drinks that can affect their alertness or coordination while working. If taking prescription drugs, consult with a healthcare professional to determine if it is safe to operate the machine.
Use Safety Rules:
- Ensure that the Bob-Tach levers are in the locked position and the wedges are fully engaged into the attachment holes.
- Before starting the Bobcat loader, confirm that all controls (steering levers, foot pedals, mechanical and Advanced Hand Controls) are in the neutral position.
- Keep feet on the pedals or footrests, fasten the seat belt snugly, and lower the seat bar when operating the Bobcat loader and attachment.
- When learning to operate the attachment, do so at a slow rate in an area clear of bystanders.
- Prohibit personnel from being in the work area while operating the Bobcat loader and attachment.
- Before leaving the operator’s seat, lower the lift arms fully, engage the brake, stop the engine, raise the seat bar, and lock the foot pedals and mechanical hand controls (if equipped).
- Avoid making adjustments or repairs on the Bobcat loader or attachment while the engine is running.
- Check for underground lines before digging.
- Wear safety-approved eye protection.
- Do not modify equipment or add attachments that are not approved by the manufacturer.
- Use the attachment ONLY on machines with the correct load capacity.
- Operate the Power Rake from the operator’s seat only.
