SAFETY RULES :

Safety is everyone’s business. For your own safety and that of others, do not operate the forklift unless you know the work methods for its safe operation. That means you will make it your business to know the machine thoroughly, to maintain it properly, and to operate it within safe limits.

• Practice the safety rules listed below and the safety precautions throughout this manual. Make them daily work habits. Make them your daily business because safety is everyone’s business. Permit only qualified persons to operate the forklift. Do not try to lift or haul loads that exceed the rated capacities of the forklift.
• The forklift is a one man machine. No riders allowed. Operate the forklift only from the driver’s seat. Keep hands and feet inside the operator’s compartment.
• Before starting the engine, be sure all controls are in neutral and the parking brake is engaged. Allow sufficient room for maneuvering the rear end of the forklift which must travel a wider arc for steering purposes than the front end.
• When traveling or transporting, keep the forks low and the mast tilted back. The turn brake pedals must be used with care. Use them individually to make a tight turn only when the tractor is traveling under 5 mph. Never usethemindividuallyforbraking when traveling over 5 mph. Use the brake pedals interlock for stopping at speeds over 5 mph. Use forks that fit the job and the materials being handled.
• Forks that are too short make a load unstable and hard to handle. Spread the forks as wide as possible on the carriage to avoid side tipping the load. Use forks of correct length for handling pallets or containers so that the load will not tip over. Be sure the load is properly balanced and securely stacked on forks or pallets or in containers.
