Introduction

The Beam Stage Loader or BSL sizes and transfers coal from the AFC to the gate conveyor belt via the crusher. The peak design capacity of the BSL is 4800 tonnes per hour. The BSL has a similar pan design as the AFC but uses a wider pan, the PF4 1532. This equates to an internal pan width of 1388mm. The BSL uses a twin inboard chain and flight design. The chain speed is 2.3 m/s which is faster than the AFC which runs at 1.49 m/s. The additional width and higher chain speed reduce the chances of blockages in the BSL. The BSL incorporates all standard components and features a device for chain tensioning, and a hydraulic slow running device to help clear blockages in the BSL
