Introduction:

• This manual contains functional description, component description, start-up
  and adjustment procedures and maintenance information for the Marion
  Programmable System. This system is a programmable controller (“PC”) based
  digital control system. The system has been designed for accuracy and
  dependability. Use of the PC makes the system extremely flexible and
  maintenance is enhanced by the PC’s diagnostics capabilities. Not only does
  the PC perform self-diagnostics but peripheral device diagnostics as well. All
  control features performed by the system are covered in the following
  sections.
• One of the primary advantages of the System is the ease with which it can be
  adjusted. Knowing when and how to readjust or make changes in the system is
  simply a matter of becoming familiar with the system, how it works and what its
  limitations are. This manual is intended to provide that knowledge.
• Keep in mind that the system is basically a small computer that communicates to
  the outside world through input and output hardware signal conditioners (I/O
  Racks and Cards). The way in which the output responds is controlled by
  software programs. All system hardware and software is operationally tested at
  the factory. The use of software allows the flexibility of custom modifications
  based on customer preference, with no hardware changes in most cases.
• Thoroughly read the entire contents of this manual before attempting to make
  any adjustments or changes. Alterations to the software program should never
  be attempted without advice from Marion. In the event a software change is
  deemed desirable or in case of any question with respect to the System
  application or adjustments contact Marion Customer Services Department.
