INSTALLATION

• Dry type transformers must be installed indoors unless special weather shields or a special enclosure is provided for outdoor installation. These transformers may be installed on walls, platforms, beams, floors or other locations that provide a surface that 1s flat, level, and strong enough to support the weight of the unit. Installation should he made only 111 a dry room reasonably free of dust and corrosive fumes.
• These transformers must he installed in an upnght position only. with provision for free circulawrn of air through and around the unit. If this 1s not done, the unit may overheat. In line with the National Elcctnc Code, Westinghouse provides, on its DT-3 transformers, a ,r:rmmdmg strap on the Xo tcrmmal which can be conm.·cted to the enclosure ground by mean’.
• nf a hnlt and nu! A~ ;, ~a!ety precaution the metal cac,c of the transformer should be grounded to an effective common ground. An extra Xo terminal is provided to make this conncct1on.
