VT650 Hydraulic Training Outline
1. Oil Types
• Main Hydraulic System must use Mobil 424 or equivalent.
• Winch Oil uses API GL4 (140) Gear Oil Peragma Grade 8.
• Axle and Planetary Wheel End uses Hypoid Gear Oil SAE 90W.
• Speed Reducer (Gear Case) uses Century Hulbest EP-6 (100-6).
2. Oil Tanks
• TWQ interconnected oil tanks. Operator side tank is welded in frame, and off side
. oil tank is removable.
• Use Jet Fill to fill both tanks. Jet Fill only dumps into off side tank, but fluid will
pass through interconnecting hose to fill operator side tank.
• Oil level must be above suction strainer in order for Jet Fill to work properly.
• If tanks are drained, fill tank through breather port until suction strainer is
completely saturated.
3. Pumps
• Machine uses dual gear pumps. First stage for main hydraulic circuit, and second
stage used for accumulator pressure, brake cooling, and brake pre§sure.
• Two hand pumps are located in operator’s cab. One is used for brake release, the
second for the hydraulic breaker reset.
4. Filters
• Two pressure and pilot filters located on doors of hydraulic pit.
• Return filter mounted on off side hydraulic tank.
• Check and change filters regularly.
• Machine uses electric dirt alarm that will indicate when filters are dirty on display
in operator’s cab.
• Differential Pressure gauges on filters are to be used to determine which filters
need to be changed when indicated on display.
