GENERAL:

• READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY BEFORE STARTING ANY TEST. During test, apply power only to those circuits which require power for that particular test. Remove power before working on circuits.
• Check the panel and cabinet connections for correspondence with the schematic and wiring diagrams and verify that connections are secure. Check wiring of motor generator loops.

DIESEL ENGINES:

• Read the vendors’operating instructions for both diesel engines before starting either. When this procedure calls for starting of the diesel generators, it assumes that the correct radiator fans, oil transfer, pump, and water transfer pump will be started in accordance with the diesel manual instructions.
• Before starting the engines, check the D.C. generator to see that there is no dirt or other material lying on the commutator or between armature and pole pieces. Check to see that there is pressure on all generator brushes.
• After starting the auxiliary and main engine, and before starting the electrical tests, the generator speed should be adjusted to agree with the C-143 sheet value marked “generator speed with high idle speed of main engine” .
