INFORMATION LETTER
Subject: BOOM YOKE THRUST PLATE MODIFICATION
It has come to our attention that cracking of the weld which secures the yoke
thrust washer mounting plate 600821-6 to the boom structure has occurred.
Cracking initiated near the bottom edge of the plate at the sharp corner and at
the weld bead termination.
The following procedure has been developed to eliminate the cracking problem.
Procedure: Modify the thrust plate per drawing MS-263. The sharp corner at the
bottom of the plate should be radiused to 1.5 inches. The weld is
increased from ·.38 inches to .75 inches and is terminated 4 inches
from the edge of the plate. See MS-263 for installation
instructions.
