INTRODUCTION:

• The Caterpillar SH150 Shield Trailer is used for transporting longwall roof supports and can be fitted with optional attachments.
• Before operating the trailer for the first time, all personnel who are to be involved in the operation of the equipment must be fully trained in the operation, and the incorporated safety requirements of the machine, and must have read and fully understood the operating instructions.
• You must not use this equipment for any purpose that may put yourself or others at risk or in danger
• The equipment must not be used for any purpose other than that for which it is intended, i.e. transporting longwall roof supports. You must not operate this equipment unless you have been fully trained and have been authorised to do so.
• The equipment must be maintained in a safe and functional condition. The plant equipment should not be returned to service until all faults are rectified.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS: 

This list is not all inclusive. All procedures outlined in this manual must be complied with as well as the application of good commonsense. Only trained and authorised operators should operate this equipment or trainees under an appointed trainer.

• DO NOT Allow anyone to ride in or on any part of the trailer whilst operating.
• DO NOT Use the trailer for anything other than its intended purpose.
• DO NOT Operate the trailer unless all daily checks and scheduled maintenance has been performed. Report any damage or faulty operation immediately. Do not operate the trailer until corrected.
• DO NOT Stand or allow anyone to stand in the trailer steering or swiveling 5th wheel area when operating the equipment.
• When working in this area ensure the trailer is lowered to the ground and that the towing vehicle’s park brake is applied and that the tow vehicle is tagged and isolated.
• ALWAYS Drive carefully, observing all traffic rules and regulations at your colliery and be in full control of the trailer at all times.
• ALWAYS When operating the trailer when loaded always ensure you travel at low speeds when cornering, articulating and traveling on cross grades.
• ALWAYS Secure the load when traveling.
• ALWAYS Ensure that personnel are clear of the area when operating the trailer.
• ALWAYS Ensure that all lifting, securing and towing devices are rated for the task being performed and in good working order in accordance with the relevant regulations. ALWAYS Follow all notices, cautions and warnings found in this manual
