CARRY OUT THE GEARBOX OIL-LEVEL CHECK WITH THE IDLI NG ENGINE AND AT A NORMAL TEMPERATURE OF THE GEARBOX, FOR TEMPERATURES OF ABOUT 40°( CHECK THE LOWER MARK, FOR TEMPERATURES OF ABOUT 80°C CHECK UPPER MARK ON THE OIL DIPSTICK, C A U T I O N WHEN THE ENGINE HAS BEEN STOPPED, THE OIL LEVEL IN THE GEARBOX CAN RISE ESSENTIALLY, ACCORDING TO THE INSTALLATION CONDITIONS, CAREFULLY RESPECT THE OJL CHANGE INTERVALS, COMBINED WITH REPLACEMENT OF THE FILTER, WHEN STARTING THE ENGINE, ALWAYS SHIFT THE GEARBOX CONTROL LEVER TO THE NEUTRAL POSITION, RELEASE THE PARKING BRAKE BEFORE YOU START DRIVING, UNDER NO CONDITION LET THE VEHICLE ROLL AW/IY •ITH THE CONTROL LEVER IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION, DURING REVERSING OPERATIONS, REDUCE THE ENGINE SPEED, DOWN-SHIFTING SHOULD BE DONE AS FAST AS THE MECHANICAL LOCK ON THE GEARSHIFT LEVER RELEASES THE LEVER, THE DELAY IS ON ABOUT 0,6 SEK. BETWEEN EVERY SPEED, WHEN RUNNING DOWN A GRADIENT THE ENGINE SPEED MAY NOT DROP BELOW 1200 RPM, (LUBRICATION) THE TOWINGSPEED SHOULD NEVER EXCEED 10 KM/H, AND THE DISTANCE SHOULD NO BE LONGER THAN 10 KM, OPERATING TEMPERATURE 80 – 110°c, AN INCREASE UP TO MAX, 120°c CAN BE ADMITTED FOR A SHORT PERIOD, PAY ATTENTION TO THE CONTROL PRESSURE (13 – 15 KP/cM2), IN CASE OF TROUBLES WITH THE GEARBOX, STOP THE VEHICLE AND ASK FOR TRAINED PERSONELL,

1.1 Operation of the converter
HE CONVERTER IS WORKING ACCORDI NG TO THE TRILOC-SYSTEM, l ,E, THE CONVERTER ASSUMES, AT HIGH TURBINE SPEEDS, THE CHARACTERISTICS AND THEREFORE THE FAVOURABLE EFFICIENCY OF A HYDRAULIC CLUTCH, THE CONVERTER IS DESIGNED ACCORDING TO THE ENGINE OUTPUT, IN ORDER TO DISPOSE OF THE MOST FAVOURABLE OPERATIN G CONDITIONS FOR EACH INSTALLATION PURPOSE, THE TORQUE CONVERTER IS COMPOSED OF 3 MAIN PARTS, IMPELLER WHEELS – TURBINE WHEEL – STATOR (REACTION MEMBER), THESE 3 IMPELLERS ARE ARRANGED IN SUCH A RING-SHAPED SYSTEM THAT THE FLUID PASSES THROUGH THEM IN THE ABOVE INDICATED SEQUENCE, THE ZF-CONVERTER PUMP AND CONTROL PUMP IS CONTANTLY PRESSING PRESSURE OIL THROUGH THE CONVERTER. IN THIS WAY, THE CONVERTER IS ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH ITS TASK, I,E. TO MULTIPLY THE TORQUE OF THE ENGINE, AT THE SAME TIME, THE HEAT CREATED IN THE CONVERTER IS GOING TO BE ABSORBED BY THE ESCAPING OI L, ➔HE OIL ESCAPING FROM THE IMPELLER WHEELS ENTERS INTO THE TURBINE HEEL, WHERE THE DIRECTION OF THE FLUID IS REVERSED, ACCORDING TO THE REVERSING MOMENT, THE TURBINE WHEEL, AND WITH IT ALSO THE OUTPUT SHAFT, WILL RECEIVE A MORE OR LESS HIGH REACTION MOMENT, THE STATOR (REACTION MEMBER), FOLLOWING THE TURBINE WHEEL, HAS THE TASK TO REDIRECT AGAIN THE OIL, WHICH IS STREAMI NG OUT OF THE TURBINE, AND TO DIRECT IT IN THE CORRECT STREAMING DIRECTION INTO THE PUMP WHEEL, THE STATOR RECEIVES A REACTION MOMENT DUE TO THIS REVERSING MOTION, THE RELATION BETWEEN THE TURBINE MOMENT/PUMP MOMENT IS CALLED TORQUE CON VERSION, THE CONVERSION IS INCREASING IN CORRESPONDANCE WITH THE SPEED DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PUMP WHEEL AND TURBINE WHEEL, THEREFORE, THE MAXIMAL CONVERSION TAKES PLACES WHEN THE TURBINE WHEEL IS NOT MOVING, WITH I NCREASING OUTPUT SPEED THE CONVERTER IS DECREASING, THE OUTPUT SPEED 1S I NFINITELY AND AUTOMATICALLY ADAPTED TO A REQUIRED OUTPUT MOMENT BY THE TORQUE CONVERTER,
AT A TURBINE SPEED OF ABOUT 80 % OF THE PUMPE SPEED, THE CON VERSION BECOMES 1,0, I,E, THE TURBINE MOMENT IS EQUAL TO THAT OF THE PUMP MOMENT, THE TORQUE CONVERTER 1S THEN ACTING SIMILAR TO A FLUID CLUTCH, A FREEWHEELING MECHANISM OF THE STATOR IS INCREASING THE EFFICIENCY IN THE HIGHER DRIVING RANGE, IN THE CONVERSION RANGE, THE FREEWHEEL BACKS UP THE MOMENT AGAINST THE HOUSING, WHILST IT IS RELEASED IN THE CLUTCH RANGE. IN THIS WAY, THE STATOR CAN ROTATE FREELY, AN INSTALLED SPRAG PACK REALIZES A SOLID CONNECTION BETWEEN DRIVE SHAFT AND TUR BINE SHAFT (CONVERTER OUTPUT), WHEN THE VEHICLE 1S RUNNING IN A COASTING CONDITI ON, THIS CONDITION MAY ENTER FOR INSTANCE WHEN DRIVING DOWNHILL, UNDER THIS CONDITION, THE BRAKING EFFECT OF THE ENGINE CAN BE UTILIZED, THE CONVERTER CONNECTING CLUTCH, IF INSTALLED, IS AUTOMATICALLY CLOSED IN A MOMENT IN WHICH – WITH INCREASING DRIVING SPEED – THE TORQUE CONVERSION HAS DECREASED TO ABOUT 1 AND THE DRIVING WITH OPEN CONVERTER BRINGS NO INCREASE IN TRACTION POWER, WHEN THE CONVERTER CONNECTION CLUTCH (WK) IS CLOSED, THE SLIP BETWEEN PUMP WHEEL AND TURBINE WHEEL, AND THEREFORE THE HYDRAULIC LOSS 1N THE CONVERTER, IS EQUAL TO “ZERO”,
