GENERAL INFORMATION:

The block is cast in high resistance light aluminum alloc7 and its cylinder bores are
included in the unit. As the cylinders are opposed 180 , the block unit is made up
of two groups. At each overhaul, cleaning of the block must be carried out
accurately. Remove all plugs and with a pressure hose force kerosene through all
lubrication channels.

CYLINDER SLE VES OVERHAUL:

• The sleeves are of the slip-in type.
• Their seating is controlled by the torque on the cylinder heads and retaining ring A.
• They are supplied ready for installation within the specified oversizes.
  Maximum allowabl wear across the diameter is 0.08 ..,- 0.10 mm. as measured about 10 mm. below the
  head gasket mating surface.
• If wear limits are exceeded it is advisable to replace the cylinder sleeves. Out-of-roundness and
  taper must:rioc exceed 0.010 -t-0.015 mm.
• Only in extreme cases it is advised to oversize the bore of the sleeves.
• If this operation is to be carried out, remove the sleeve from the block and with the proper
  machining tool grind the inner surfaces to the desired 1st or 2nd oversize specifications.
• During this operation closely check that the perpendicularity between the machined surfaces and the
  resting surface is ..L 0.02.
• The resurfacing finish must be within 0.6 +-0.8 µ.
• Before re-installation of the sleeves ( when removed for any reason) carry out a thorough cleaning
  and replace the retaining rubber rings.
• The cylinder sleeves should not extend beyond the gasket su faces, without retaining ring A
  installed, between O.03 -t- 0.07 mm. , oo I 2…. – , o D 2..7
• Make sure that the extension for all cylinders is as close as possible to 0.05 mm.( ,C’o t’76
  For this operation, use tool 542-CS-6788.
