Introduction :

The “F1 gearbox” transmission system concept for Ferrari 355 F1 has been created with the aim of: – improving the performances of the manual mechanical transmission parts; – avoiding control of the clutch pedal and the gearbox control lever by the driver, while ensuring the pleasure of driving, due to the transmission direct cantrol; – impraving driving safety, through a control that prevents driver’s faults and an incorrect operation of the transmission system; offering a state-at-the art car interface.

• The system is mainly a mechanical transmission: dry single-plate clutch and synchronized mechanical gearbox, driven by an hydraulic interlocking. No modification is required to the clutch or gearbox to fit the hydraulic actuators controlling the clutch stroke and the gear engagement and selection mavements.
• Gear changes, required by the driver or automatically engaged by the control, depending on the set operation mode, are operated automatically by the system, without any intervention by the driver.
