• The engine is a direct injection, turbo-charged type, and is made of the following main elements.
• Cast iron cylinder block, with seven crankshaft and con-rod journals, induction hardened, equipped with vibration damper.
• Crankshaft and con-rod bearings, including two thin shell half-bearings lined with anti-friction material, four thrust washers located on the central crankshaft journal.
• Aluminium alloy ellipsoid pistons, a high turbulence combustion chamber is obtained on the piston crown. The pistons are equipped with three elastic rings: the first, trapezoidal shaped compression, the second rectangular shaped compression, the third an oil scraper.
• Con-rods, drop-forged, equipped with bosses to be machined to obtain the balancing and weight equalisation.
• Timing, with overhead valves, driven through the camshaft by tappets, rods and rocker arms.
• The camshaft is mounted on the side of the cylinder block and is driven by gears connected to the crankshaft.
• Forced circulation lubrication, obtained by a gear pump, driven by the crankshaft through gears.
• A heat exchanger and two cartridge filters, a breather regulator, mounted on the rear rocker arm cover are installed on the lubrication system.
• The oil pressure regulation and safety valves are mounted on the oil filters support. Forced circulation cooling, obtained by a centrifugal pump, driven by the crankshaft, through gears. The water circulation is controlled by two thermostats.
• The cooling of the fluid is obtained by a vertical radiator and air flow, generated by a fan. Anti corrosion water filter.
