• This handbook has been compiled to assist you in properly operating and maintaining
  your Grove Crane.
• Before placing the crane in service, take time to thoroughly familia1″i:i:e yourself
  with the contents of this manual. After all sections have been read and understood,
  retain the manual for future reference in a readily accessible locaticm.
• The Grove Crane has been designed for maximum performance with minimum
  maintenance. With proper care, years of trouble-free service can be expected.
• Constant improvement and engineering progress makes it necessary that we
  reserve the right to make specification and eqt.tipment changes without notice.
• Engine operating procedures and routine maintenance procedures are supplied
  in a separate manual with each crane, and should be referred to for detailed
  information.
• Information in this manual does not replace federal, state, or local regulations,
  safety codes, or insurance requirements.

GENERAL:

• This handbook provides operation and safety instructions to the operator
  of the Grove RT800 Series Rough Terrain Hydraulic Crane.
• Each Grove RTB00 Series Rough Terrain Hydraulic Crane is designed
  to be able to move on rough terrain and move loads.
• Each machine has a diesel engine, a torque converter, a transmission,
  a front-wheel drive axle, and a rear–wheel drive axle for movement.
  Each machine has a boom and a hoist for reaching, lifting, placing, and
  lowering loads. The boom can telescope out and in; it can also move
  from -4 to 80 degrees elevation. An optional auxiliary hoist simplifies
  single-part line usage over the auxiliary boom nose. An optional jib
  provides more reach. The cab, boom, and hoist (s) are mounted on a
  turntable; the turntable allows full circular rotation of the cab, boom, and
  hoist(s).
• Outriggers on the comers of the machine provide stability for the
  machine when it is lifting heavy loads.
• The diesel engine on each machine drives the hydraulic pumps that
  power the boom, the hoist(s), the turntable, and the outriggers. The
  pumps draw fluid from the reservoir to power these components. The
  engine also powers the air compressor that charges the air system to
  power the machine’s brakes and certain other controls.
