• Accidents and work hazards relating to the loader can be broadly classified into three categories: those which happen in spite of adequate precautions; those which happen because of the carelessness of operators or workers performing normal work; and those which happen due to defective parts or a malfunctioning loader.
• Personal accidents involving the wheel loader include: falling, burns, bruises, entanglement of the body in the machine’s parts, entanglement in rotating parts, injury from falling objects, broken metal pieces or high pressure fluids, and back injury when carrying a heavy load. To prevent these accidents from happening, you must observe the safety rules described on pages that follow. In addition, you are required to become familiar with the design and performance capabilities of the loader.
