The vibrator is a bi-directional rotating assembly. The eccentric weight assembly has a non-fixed center weight that allows it to produce two amplitudes of vibration depending upon which direction the fixed weights are being driven. When turning in one direction the non-fixed weight seats itself between the two fixed weights and provides high amplitude vibration (Figure 4). When the direction of rotation reverses the non-fixed weight rotates out from between the fixed weights and provides low amplitude vibration (Figure 3).

The weight is driven by a hydraulic motor. The directional rotation of the motor is control by a solenoid valve.

The roll and vibrator assembly is strictly a mechanical device.
