1 Introduction:
- A Spark Arrestor is a device which removes incandescent particles from a gas stream. Spark
Arrestors are fitted to vehicles and stationary engines which are operated in potentially flammable
atmospheres. - This Spark Arrestor Design has been Type Approved in accordance with European Directive
94/9/EC (the ATEX Directive). This Directive applies only to Spark Arrestors fitted to compression
ignition engines. - The Spark Arrestor must not be used on an engine other than that for which it has been specified.
If you are in doubt as to the correct application, contact the manufacturer or supplier, stating
Part Number and Serial Number.
2 Definitions:
- Manufacturer: the organisation responsible for the design and manufacture of the Spark Arrestor.
- Supplier: any organisation, whether agent or customer of the Manufacturer, which sells
the Spark Arrestor, whether as a single item, as part of a kit or assembly, or as a
component of a vehicle. The Supplier is subject to certain requirements under the ATEX
Directive.
3 Installation:
3.1 The Spark Arrestor must be installed with the gas entering the spark arrestor
through the port(s) marked inlet.
