General:
1 Safety instructions:
Obey all safety instructions given in the Operating manual (which is included in the chapter “Operating
maintenance” of this Service manual).

Tightening:
3.1 Factory standard: tightening torques for screws on LIEBHERR Mining excavators
This section gives the torque values for screws in dry or greased condition. These torque tables must
be used unless a specific torque is given in the manual.
Use the 8.8 torque values from the tables that follow when:
– Tightening an aluminium part without tapping insert
– Tightening a welded nut
– Tightening in GL grey cast iron (flake graphite cast iron), e.g. by splitterboxes, engine blocks or
cast counterweights (in addition with “medium strength” thread locker like Loctite 243)
– Tightening of stainless steel screws (in addition with special stainless steel mounting oil/grease).
From screw size M20 and larger (except for screws with corrosion protective coating), grease must
be applied on the thread and under the screw head (use swing teeth grease):
– Use a paintbrush or similar tool to apply the grease
– Do not put grease inside the thread but on the screw
– Do not put grease in excess on the screw.
