Before operating your new forklift truck, read and fully understand the Rough Terrain Forklift Safety Manual and the K–D Manitou Operators/Service Manual. Be sure these manuals are followed and the truck is oper- ated within its capacity at all times. The purpose of the owners manual is to provide safe operation instructions and list the scheduled maintenance requirements for your K–D Manitou, Inc. forklift. By following the instructions in this manual, your rough terrain forklift will provide safe operation and excel- lent performance. This manual is not intended to be a comprehensive technical manual. It will,however, show you how to maintain your K–D Manitou, Inc. forklift truck and avoid unnecessary mechanical problems. The K–D Manitou, Inc. Models S402TC–D through S604 TC–D forklift trucks are a combination of components manufactured by K–D Manitou, Inc. and the Ford Motor Company. These rough terrain forklifts are built upon the Ford Mode l445D Power Train and are designed for ease of operation and simple routine servicing. The terms left and right, front and rear used in this manual refer to the position as if the driver were seated normally in the drivers seat.
