Before operating your new forklift truck, read and fully understand theRoughTerrain Forklift Safety Manual
and theK–DManitouOperator’s/Service Manual. Be sure these manuals are followed and the truck is oper-
ated within its capacity at all times.
The purpose of the owner’s manual is to provide safe operation instructions and list the scheduled mainte-
nance requirements for your K–D Manitou, Inc. forklift.
By following the instructions in this manual, your rough terrain forkliftwill provide safe operation and excel-
lent performance.
This manual is not intended to be a comprehensive technical manual. Itwill,however, showyouhowto main-
tain your K–D Manitou, Inc. forklift truck and avoid unnecessary mechanical problems.
The K–DManitou, Inc. Models S402TC–Dthrough S604TC–Dforklift trucks are a combination of compo-
nents manufactured by K–D Manitou, Inc. and the Ford Motor Company. These rough terrain forklifts are
built upon the FordModel445DPowerTrain and are designed for ease of operation and simple routine servic-
ing.
The terms ”left” and ”right”, ”front” and ”rear” used in this manual refer to the position as if the driver were
seated normally in the driver’s seat.
