• Ford 4610 and 530-A Series 10 tractor engines initially incorporated headland pistons. Due to early supply difficulties, it became necessary to install Ford 6610 conventional pistons and ring assemblies to maintain production. All Ford 4610 and 530A engines built from engine date 1L16 (11-16-81) incorporated the Ford 6610 conventional components. Details of this change are in Service Bulletin No. 682, Article 3T.
• Supply difficulties have now been resolved and production has reverted to fitting headland pistons in 4610 and 530-A tractor engines. in addition headland pistons are now being installed in 540-A. 545 and 555 tractor engines. In effect. headland pistons are now being installed in all 201 CID engines. This change is effective with engine date code 2L01 (it-1.82).
• Whenever repairs are made that require piston replacement. either the Ford 6610 conventional components or the headland pistons can be installed. Whichever alternative is selected, all pistons and rings installed must be the same type.
