• Three gearboxes and a pedestal shaft assembly are used to power the cutter bar and the conditioner rolls. The driveline on the tongue connects to the center pivoting gearbox, 1, on the header; the center gearbox pivots with the tongue through a mechanical sliding linkage, 6, to minimize U-joint angles on the secondary drive shaft. The center bevel gearbox drives two 2HB banded, kevlar cord v-belts, 2, to power the header.
• The left side belt drives a pedestal shaft, 3, which is connected to the #2 disc on the cutter bar with a U-joint drive shaft. The right side belt drive powers a bevel gearbox, 4, which drives the #9 cutter bar disc module through a U-joint drive shaft, and also drives the conditioner rolls.
• The dual cutter bar drives reduces the loading experienced by the #2 & #9 disc modules; the cutter bar is completely connected with intermodule shafts for power transmittal and disc timing. The right side bevel gearbox also drives a 4HB banded, kevlar cord v-belt, 5, to the conditioner drive gearbox which powers the rolls using two multispline telescoping u-joint drive shafts.
