The manual also includes detailed guidance on precision procedures that are easy to get wrong without the factory reference — for example, correct shimming procedure (measuring each adjusting shim individually with a micrometer and summing the recorded values, rather than relying on the rated value stamped on the shim or the measurement of the whole shim set), and correct rotating shaft seal installation (soaking the seal in the same oil it will seal for at least 30 minutes before fitting, orienting the sealing lip and hydrodynamic grooves correctly relative to shaft rotation, lubricating the lip, and pressing the seal in squarely with a flat punch rather than a hammer or drift).
