• Before assembly, the retainers should be soaked for at least half an hour in the same oil to be sealed.
• Clean thoroughly shaft and make sure that working surface is not damaged; put the sealing lip against the fluid to be sealed. In case of a hydrodynamic lip, the lines should be oriented to take into account the direction of the shaft rotation.
• Smear the sealing lip with a film of lubricant (oil is better than grease) and fill the space between the sealing lip and the dust shield lip with grease, using double-sealing-lip retainers.
• Press the retainer into the relevant position or use a proper fitter with a flat contact surface. Never use a hammer or mallet to fit the retainer.
• When pressing the retainer mounting, make sure that it is correctly driven into the relevant position. When installation is complete, make sure that the retainer itself is in contact with the thrust if necessary.
• To prevent damage of seal lip when inserting shaft, cautiously protect components during assembly.
