AVOIDING ACCIDENTS

Most accidents and injuries that occur in workshops are caused by the fa ilure to observe some simple basic care and safety rules. For these reasons, in most cases they can be avoided: it is sufficient to foresee the possible causes and then take the necessary actions using caution and care. No matter how well desioned and built, no machine can be guaranteed to be completely accident-free. An ale,i and cautious mechanic is the best guai-antee against accidents. The strict observance of just one bcsic safety 1Β·ule would be enough to avoid many serious accidents

SAFETY RULES
General
Follow the maintenance and repair procedures carefully.

  • Never carry out cleaning, lubrication or maintenance operations with the motor running or with the battery connected, unless otherwise indicated . Never wear rings, wrist watches, jewelr,β€’, loose or dangling items of clothing such as ties, torn clothing, scarves, unbuttoned jackets or overalls with open zippers that could get caught in moving parts. Approved safety clothing is recommended such as: helmets, anti-slip shoes, gloves end safety goggles.
  • Never carry out any service operations on the machine with anyone sitting in the seat, unless the operator is fully-trained and involved in the operation to be carried out. Never start the machine or use its attachments from any position other than the operator’s seat. Switch off the motor and check that there is no pressu re left in the hydraulic circuits before removing plugs and covers.
  • See the instructions provided ior this purpose in this manual. ,t;!I service operations should be carried out with the maximum care and attention. The service steps and platforms used in the workshop or on site should comply with current accident-prevention regulations. Label all contro!s to indicate that a service operation is being carried out.
  • Block the machine and any attachments to be rnised. Never check or refil l the fuel tc.nk, hydraulic system oil tank and batteries while smoking since the fluids are inflammable. The brakes are deactivated when they are released manually for service operations. In these cases, special blocks or similar devices should be used to control the machine. Use only the pre$.cribed attachment points when towing. Attach the connections carefully. Check that the pins and/or bolts provided are firmly secured prior to pulling.
  • Never stand close to drawbars, ropes or chains that are working under load. To move a broken-down machine, use a trailer or a low-platform truck, if available. To load or unload the machine from the transportation vehicle, choose a level area providing a solid support for the trailer or truck wheels. Anchor the machine firmly to the lr’uck or trailer loading platform and block the wheels.
  • Forelec;tric heaters, battery chargers and similar equipment use only auxiliary power supply sources having an efficient earth connection to avoid possible electric shocks.Β· If you need to raise or handle heavy parts, use appropriate hoists and similar equipment, and make sure that no one is in the immediate vicinity. Never pour petrol or diesel fuel into wide, open and deep containers due to the risk from inflammable vapours and spillage.
  • Never use petrol, diesel fuel or other inflammable fluids as cleaning agents. Instead, use non-inflammable, non-toxic commercial solvents. When using compressed air to clean parts, always wear goggles with side shields. Limit pressure to a maximum of 2.1 bar in accordance with existing local or national regulations. Do not smoke or use naked flames or cause sparks in the vicinity when handling inflammable materials. Do not use flames as a means of illumination when carrying out service operations or looking for leaks on the machine
