AVOIDING ACCIDENTS

Most accidents and injuries that occur in workshops are caused by the failure to observe some simple basic rules of care and safety. For th is reasons in the majority of cases they can be avoided: it is sufficient to foresee the possible causes and then act with the necessary caution and care . It is impossible with any type of machine, no matter how well designed and built, to definitely exclude every possibility of accident. An alert, cautious mechanic is the best guarantee agai nst accident. The strict observance of just one basic safety rule would be enough to avoid many serious accidents

SAFETY RULES
General
Follow the maintenance and repair procedu res carefully.

• Never wear rings, wrist watches, jewellery, loose or dangling items of clothing such as ties , torn cloth ing , scarves, unbuttoned jackets or overalls with open zip fasteners that cou ld get caught up in the moving parts. Approved safety clothing is recommended such as, helmets, anti-slip shoes, gloves, safety goggles. Never carry out any service operation on the machine with anyone sitting in the seat, unless the operator is ful ly trained and involved in the operation to be carried out.
• Never start the machine or use its attachments from any position other than the operator’s seat. Check that there is no pressure left in the hydrau lic circuits before removing covers. See the instructions provided for this purpose in this manual. All service operations should be carried out with the maximum care and attention. The design of the service steps and platforms used in the workshop or on site should comply with current accident prevention regulations.
• Disconnect the batteries and label all the controls to ind icate that a service operation is being carried out. Block the machine and any attachments to be raised. Never check batteries and accumulators whi lst smoking or next to naked flames, since the fluids are inflammable. The brakes are deactivated when they are released manually for service operations. In these cases, special blocks or similar devices should be used to control the machine. Use only the prescribed attachment points when towing. Attach the connections carefully.
• Check that the pins and/or bolts provided are firmly secured prior to pulli ng. Never stand close to drawbars, ropes or chai ns that are working under load. To move a broken -down machine use a trailer or a low-platform truck, if available. To load or unload the machine from the means of transport, choose a level area provid ing a solid support to the tra iler or truck wheels. Anchor the machine firmly to the truck or trailer load ing platform and block the wheels. For the electric heaters, battery ch argers and sim ilar equipment use only auxi liary power supply sources having an efficient earth connection to avoid possible electric shocks.
• If you need to ra ise or handle heavy parts, use the appropri ate capacity hoists and similar apparatus, and make sure that noone is in the immediate vicinity. Never pour petrol or diesel fuel into wide open deep containers due to the risk of inflammable vapours and spillage. Never use petrol, diesel fu el or other inflammable flu ids as cleaning agents.Instead, use non -inflammable, non-toxic commercial solvents. Stampato
