Yale (A827) Mpb040ac Lift Truck Service Repair Manual
GENERAL :
This manual covers the repair and maintenance of the MPB model lift trucks. The manual has been sub-divided into various sections which contain instructions for removal, disassembly, inspection, assembly, installation and adjustment of the major components. Additionally this manual includes, within this section, the recommended schedules of maintenance and lubrication schedule. Troubleshooting charts and recommended specifications are also included within the sections. Various components that are not covered in specific sections are covered in this section. Some of these components have to be removed to complete maintenance or repairs covered in other sections.
Resistor Units :Resistor The resistor regulates the amount of current that travels to the solenoid switches. The regulation of current controls the speed of the lift truck. When the lift truck travels at the first speed rate, current travels through the length of the resistor.
- At second speed, current travels 1/2 the length of the resistor. When the lift truck travels at third speed, current moves from the battery disconnect directly to the solenoid switches.
- Make an identification of wires before disconnecting to ensure the wires are connected properly after checks or repairs are performed. Removal and Installation The resistor should be inspected periodically for coil damage. If the coils are severelydamaged or broken the resistor shouldbe replaced.
1. Disconnect the battrey and remove the drive unit cover. See Section 2–DRIVE UNIT COMPARTMENT COVER–REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION.
2. To remove the resistor, remove the nut and washers that attach the LH and RH connectors to the resistor.
3. Remove the hex head screw, washers, and nut that secure the resistor to the control panel plate.
4. To attach the new resistor, attach the hex head screw, washers, and nut that secure the resistor to the control panel plate.
5. Then attach the washers, and nuts that secure the LH and RH connectors to the resistor.
6. Connect the battery and remove the drive unit cover. See Section 2–DRIVE UNIT COMPARTMENT COVER–REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION.
Relay :
- The control panel relay controls various internal switches throughout the lift truck. If the relay is severely damaged or broken it should be replaced. To remove the relay from control panel, remove the philips head screws andwashers that attach the relay to the control panel.
- Align the new relay over the openings on the control panel plate and attach the philips head screws and washers to secure the relay. Solenoid Switches The solenoid switches transfer electric current from the battery disconnect to the directional, or forward/reverse contactor.
- If the solenoid switches are severely damaged or broken they should be replaced. To remove the solenoid switches first remove the nuts and washers that attach the LH and RH connectors to the solenoid switchs and lift the connectorsaway from the solenoid switch.
- Remove the screws, and washers that attach the solenoid swithch to the control panel plate. Align the new solenoid swithch over the openings on the control panel plate and attach the screws and washers that secure the solenoid switch to the plate. Line up the LHand RHconnectors with the correct port on the solenoid switch and replace the attaching washers and nuts.
