Description

The Ajax Argo 4300 and Argo 4800 are self loading concrete machines built to batch, mix and pour on site without a batching plant standing behind them. This Ajax Argo 4300 Argo 4800 Operation and Maintenance Manual is the complete operating document issued with those machines, delivered as a 143-page PDF covering controls, work procedures, service intervals, capacities and full-page circuit diagrams.

It was published by Ajax Engineering Private Limited under part number 200100001983, Revision A, dated July 2021, and it covers both models across the two CEV Stage IV engine options: the Kirloskar 4R1190TA (KOEL) and the Mahindra 48051A (M&M). Machines carrying an AF1ARG43 or AF1ARG48 chassis identification are covered by the same document.

  • 2. Technical Features
  • 3. Safety Precautions
  • 4. Operation And Use
  • 5. Maintenance
  • 6. Hydraulic Circuit
  • 7. Electric Circuit

1. Introduction

Sets out the symbols and direction references used throughout, then defines the two driving post positions that govern everything else on the machine — the working phase with the post turned toward the drum for material loading and unloading, and the transfer phase with the post facing forward. The chapter closes with the machine identification plates: the Ajax data plate carrying PIN, model and month/year of manufacture, plus the Kirloskar and Mahindra engine plates, and explains which numbers to quote when ordering parts.

2. Technical Features

Full dimensional tables for both Argo 4300 and Argo 4800 — wheelbase, front and rear overhang with the bucket raised or lowered, transfer and working lengths, cabin and transfer heights, track widths and ground clearance under the differentials. Engine data is given for the Kirloskar 4R1190TA and Mahindra 48051A, alongside electrical system ratings, the 4×4 hydrostatic transmission layout, four forward and four reverse speed ranges, axle and brake design, tyre and rim sizes, cabin equipment, steering modes and hydraulic pump displacements. It also lists bucket capacity, drum concrete output, water system delivery, every fluid tank capacity, unladen weights, gradeability and turning radius, plus the optional equipment list including telematics, auto cut-off water pump, admixture kit, high pressure water jet, rear view camera and load cell.

3. Safety Precautions

The largest single block of the manual. It covers personal protective equipment, vehicle operating limits, boarding and leaving the cab, seat belt use and inspection, pre-start checks, driving and reversing precautions, site and visibility assessment, working on slopes, driving on ice or snow, overhead electrical lines, closed environments, stopping and parking, towing and recovery, transport, and the residual risks from slipping, moving parts, shearing, trapping and crushing. Overturning, tyre bursting, battery and electrical hazards, hot and pressurised fluids, fire prevention and maintenance-specific safety rules each get their own section. It ends with the safety plate layout, the loading arm locking pin and the operator post rotation locking pin.

4. Operation And Use

The operator’s chapter, and the one most owners open first. It walks through main component identification, the battery cutoff switch, every dashboard switch and the instrument cluster warning lamps, the service brake, accelerator and inching pedals, the pivoting driver post locking lever, gear selection by switch or by lever, joystick bucket control with gate button, the steering mode selector for 2 wheel, 4 wheel and crab steering, combination switches and steering column adjustment. From there it covers drum lifting, drum rotation and swivel control, water pump actuation, the water supply and distribution valve positions with the liter counter, running-in periods, starting the CEV Stage IV engines, daily level checks, diesel refuelling, DEF/AdBlue tank filling, cold weather starting, wheel alignment reset, driving, stopping and parking, truck transport and crane lifting, public road driving rules and long inactivity storage. The chapter closes with the complete working cycle: first water fill, cement loading by bag or from a silo, aggregate loading, mixing and second water fill, discharge from the chute, transverse swinging discharge, direct hopper discharge, emergency drum discharge through the inspection door, and bucket, drum and chute washing — with the optional additive dosing system and its CBC programming steps at the end.

5. Maintenance

Routine and preventive maintenance for the whole machine. It includes the daily external visual inspection points, cleaning precautions, seat belt inspection, access to the engine compartment and hydraulic tank with its air breather cap, and separate routine maintenance charts for the Kirloskar and Mahindra engines. The greasing chart lists every nipple with its interval — pivoting driving post, king pins, transmission shaft, oscillating chassis, drum locking pin, drum lifting cylinders, loading arm with connecting rod and tie rod, bucket tilting cylinders, drum rollers, unloading chute and drum swivel bearing. Axle servicing is covered for both COMER and DANA axles, including oil level checks, oil replacement, brake fluid checks and the complete parking brake release procedure for each axle type. Fifth wheel lubrication, tyre pressure and wheel replacement, towing, hydraulic oil and filter service, drum reduction gear oil, oil quantity tables for both engines, the lubricant chart and standard bolt tightening torques complete the chapter.

6. Hydraulic Circuit

Full-page hydraulic schematics for the Argo 4800 and Argo 4300, provided separately for each engine variant. These are the drawings you work from when a function drops out, a relief valve sticks or a pump needs verifying — showing the pump groups, directional valves, cylinders, motors, filters, cooler and tank connections in full.

7. Electric Circuit

Electrical schematic sheets for the Argo BSIV series, including the relay details table, the ECU matrix panel pin-out, wire connector lists and switch connector tables. The final page carries a concise preventive maintenance checklist covering leakage checks, drum cleanliness after work, battery terminals and condition, loose hydraulic and electrical connections, greasing points, oil and coolant top-ups across engine, hydraulic tank, drum gear box, hubs and brakes, tyre pressure and condition, air cleaner, water pump filter and diesel filter condition, DRO taring and propeller shaft coupling bolts.

What This Ajax Manual Lets You Do

Everything on an Argo 4300 or Argo 4800 is controlled from one rotating post, and everything that post controls is documented here. You get the exact lever and switch function for drum raise, drum rotation, drum swivel, water pump, bucket gate and steering mode, so a new operator can be brought up to speed on the real machine instead of by trial and error. On the service side, this manual supports the jobs that actually stop a pour — a clogged hydraulic filter warning, a drum that will not hold speed, a dragging parking brake, low brake fluid, a fuel system that has drawn air, a DEF level that has pushed the engine into torque limitation, an axle due for an oil change on either a COMER or a DANA unit. The maintenance planning tables separate KOEL and Mahindra intervals so you are not guessing which schedule applies, and the greasing chart removes the guesswork from daily and weekly lubrication.

Getting the procedures and the specifications right is what separates a machine that runs for years from one that keeps returning to the workshop. Wrong hydraulic oil, a filter cartridge refitted with a displaced seal, a parking brake released in the wrong sequence, a gear shifted while the machine is rolling — each of these is covered here with the correct order of operations and the values that go with them. The capacity tables, oil quantity tables and torque figures are all in one place, so you are not chasing numbers across separate documents.
