• The engine governor is designed to maintain a selected engine speed, within reasonable constant limits under varying load conditions. By its action it controls the throttle valve. It is an integral part of the engine being “built in” within the camshaft gear and operated at camshaft speed.
• The governor depends upon centrifugal force for its action and weights bearing against the cup of the outer race to move it forward. As the cup moves forward, it bears ageinSt a lever and shaft that rotates in needle bearings and pivots ona Steel ball. This shaft, in turn, operates the carburetor throttle.
• The internal parts of the governor are continuously bathed in an intermittent spray of oil from the pressure lubricating system and. therefore, wear tactors are a minor consideration.
