• At no time should the injection pump cover be removed and the stop screw moved until the engine is tried under load. If the machine is not equipped with a torque converter, the load should be such that it will not pull the engine down under rated speed. If the load pulls the engine down below rated speedthere will be some smoke coming from the exhaust. This is 21 normal condition and should not be confused with the light haze of smoke that comes from the ex- haust when the engine is working at rated speed.
• The cover over the Stop Screw is sealed and should not be tampered with unless it is necessary to correct for high altitude. The Stop Screw should not be moved in (clockwise) from the calibration established at the factory. This will increase the fuel delivery to the engine but there is no advantage to be gained. The effects of injecting more fuel are:
  1. Objectionable exhaust smoke
  2. Poor fuel economy
  3. Greater soot contamination of lubricating oils.
