FOREWORD

• This manual establishes guidelines and furnishes general instructions for the operation of the Model 395-BI Electric Mining Shovel. The shovel is a fully electric machine. It consists ofthree major units: the lower works, the rotating deck and the front end equipment.
• The lower works provides a foundation for the rotating deck and contains the necessary components to propel the shovel. The rotating deck is mounted upon the lower works and contains all the machinery and controls required to operate the shovel.
• The machinery house completely encloses the rotating deck. The operator’s cab is also mounted to the rotating deck and contains the operator’s station. The front end equipment consists of the A-frame, boom, dipper, dipper handle, running ropes and boom structural strands.

The manual is divided into three sections:

SECTION 2 Controls-Function and Location
SECTION 3 Start Up, Operation and Shut Down
