GENERAL

• These instructions have been prepared to aid in erecting a Marion 111-M Ward-Leonard shovel, dragline, clamshell or crane. Also as a guide for the operator and oiler in their operation, lubrication and maintenance.
• The engineering drawings which accompany the machine give the exact location of all parts, all necessary dimensions~. etc. It is very important that extreme care be taken in assembly because improper erection may cause unnecessary wear and faulty operation of the machine.

When the machine is shipped from the factory, the parts are match marked throughout. Care should be taken to follow these match marks when the machine is being reassembled.

• All finished surfaces and bearings are protected against corrosion and should be thoroughly cleaned just before assembly. When assemblying, all bearings should be lubricated.
• Ball and roller bearings are to be filled only 1 /2 full of the proper grease. Also lubricate gears and chains and put the proper oil in gear and chain cases up to the correct level before the machine is run.
• The electric generators and motors, all air and electrical equipment, bearings and finished surfaces should be protected from the weather until the machine is fully assembled. Also lubricate gears and chains and put the proper oil in gear and chain cases up to the correct level before the machine is run.

Select a level assembling ar.ea adjacent to the unloading point approximately 50 feet wide and 100 feet long. If the ground is soft, erect the machine on timbers. If a crane or derrick is to be used, care should be exercised in selecting its location, so that it can lift and place the required loads without interferring with the erection of the machine.

The following is a desired list of tools and equipment required, in addition to those furnished with the machine, to erect a Marion 111-M Ward-Leonard Electric knocked down for export. They are to be furnished by the purchaser
