ะขะพ prevent damaging the engine and to ensure the reliaะฌility of engine performance, ะฌะต careful of the following points when performing engine maintenance. Note that information relating to working safely can ะฌะต found in the Overview.
โข When lifting ะพะณ supporting the engine, do not directly attach the jack to the oil pan. When lowering the engine to the ground, do not let the oil pan directly contact the ground. Use ะฐ frame, etc. to 5upport it with the engine foot ะพะณ
flywheel housing.
(There is only ะฐ small gap between the oil pan and oil pump strainer, so ะฌะต careful not to damage the oil pan and oil pump strainer.)
โข When the air intake system, such ะฐs the air duct ะพะณ air cleaner, has been removed, cover the air intake to prevent foreign material from entering the cylinder.
โข ะขะพ perform maintenance on the engine, always remove the battery ground terminal5. lf the battery ground terminal5 ะฐะณะต not removed while performing work, there i5 the po55ibllity of damaging the wire harne55 ะพะณ electrical component5. Take adequate precaution5 for safety, sUch ะฐs short circuits, when inspections require an energized state.
โข ะขะพ protect and lubricate the sIiding sUrfaces when running for the first time, apply an adequate amount of engine oil to the sliding sUrfaces.
โข When the valve related parts, injector, pistons, piston rings, control rod, control ะณะพd bearing, crankshaft journal bearing, etc. have been removed, organize them in order for storage.
โข When reinstalling them, use the same part and install it in the same position ะฐs when it was removed.
โข Completely wipe off old liquid ga5ket from the locations where it is Used. After cleaning to completely remove any oil, moi5ture and filth, apply the specified liquid ga5ket for ะฐ55ะตmะซั.
โข After applying the liquid gasket, in5tall it within ะฐ 5pecified amount of time. lf the 5pecified amount of time is exceeded, wipe away the liquid gasket and reapply it.
