Those codes are tabulated in English, French and German, then again in Italian, Spanish and Swedish, so a shop can decode a superseded line without guessing.

Serial applicability is written as open-ended, closed, or bounded ranges. A blank-to-number range means the part is used up to and including that serial; a number-to-blank range means from that serial onward; two numbers mean inclusive between them. When the catalog could not recover the exact change point it prints XXXXXX.
