How a Komatsu Parts Book Is Laid Out
Each spare parts group occupies a two-page spread. The left page carries the exploded illustration with every component numbered; the right page lists those numbers in order with the part number, part name, quantity and applicable serial number. That arrangement means you can identify a component from the drawing and read the number you need to order straight off the facing page, without measuring anything or guessing which revision of a bracket, hose or cover your machine was built with.
The book uses Komatsu’s standard symbols in the Part No. and Description columns to flag parts that are interchangeable with the line above, discontinued parts that have been superseded, parts supplied only as part of an assembly, semi-finished parts requiring additional work, and kit parts. Where an option or attachment uses a different part to the standard machine, the book says so in the description text, which matters on a PC400-8 ordered with a fuel refill pump, an additional actuator, a front guard, an extra work lamp or drift-preventive valves.

Engine — SAA6D125E-5
The engine section opens with the rotating and reciprocating assemblies: flywheel, crankshaft, vibration damper, crank pulley in both non-hardening and hardening versions, piston and connecting rod, camshaft and cam follower, and the rocker arm and housing with its covers, gaskets, rubber seals and bolts. Lubrication follows with the oil pump assembly, oil filter and piping, oil cooler element and mounting parts, plus the water drain valve. Cooling hardware covers the water pump mounting and air vent, thermostat housing, cooling fan, fan pulley and drive belt in both standard and hardening pulley versions, fan drive and corrosion resistor.
Fuel System and Common Rail
The fuel supply pump and common rail chapter covers the pump itself in two halves with its inner parts, the common rail and its inner components, fuel supply and return piping, and the associated lubricating oil piping. Fuel filtration is split across the fuel filter and piping group, the fuel priming pump and piping group, and the fuel air vent, with the fuel filter cartridge listed separately as a service-only item. Injector and spill tube, fuel return and the fuel controller complete the section.
Engine Related Parts and Cooling System
Beyond the engine block, this group covers the damper and pump, engine mounting, air cleaner connection in both the pre-cleaner and fuel self-supply pump variants, and the corrosion resistor. The cooling system is broken down across radiator and frame, oil cooler and shroud, after cooler and condenser, after cooler piping, cover, radiator piping and sub tank, sheet metal and fan guard.
Electrical System
Battery options appear in wet large-capacity and standard form, along with starting harness, main harness split across three parts, working lamp harness including the electric priming pump timer switch variant, additional work lamp with and without front guard, horn, travel alarm and the rear view monitoring system in one-camera, two-camera and less variants.
Hydraulic System
This is the largest single area of the book. It begins at the hydraulic tank and runs through the main valve connection parts, valve bracket and service valve plug, then the main pump connecting parts, suction line, delivery line with and without in-line filter, oil cooler line, return line, drain line, boom line, arm and bucket line, drift preventive valve, attachment lines for main L.H. and R.H., return filter, accumulator and pilot filter, travel line, swing line, LS line including the quick coupler variant, solenoid valve and pressure switch, and the PPC main line.
Main Frame, Operator’s Compartment and Guard
Revolving frame and boom foot pin open the main frame group, with a 100-hour lubricating variant of the boom foot pin. The operator’s compartment covers suspension and rigid seats, PVC leather seat, 50 mm and 78 mm seat belts, luggage box net, top guard, front guard, half guard, front full guard, floor mat, rain visor, sun visor, window washer and the air conditioner in compressor and piping groups. The cab itself is itemised down to window, wiper, room lamp, speaker, roof cover, air intake, pressure valve, grip, plug bolts and radio, including the vandalism-protection variants. The guard section covers hood panels, machine cab frame, left and right side doors, partitions, covers, battery case, hand rail, rear view mirrors, counterweight and the revolving-frame under covers in light, heavy duty and fuel refill pump versions.
Travel, Lower Piping and Under Carriage
Travel piping appears in standard and LC form, followed by the final drive assembly with its motor, floating seal, gear train, carrier, sprocket and cover hardware. The under carriage group details the front idler with bushing, shaft, floating seal and supports, the idler cushion with cylinder, spring, seal and valve, carrier roller, track shoes in triple grouser with hole at 600 mm and 800 mm widths, track frames for standard and LC machines with and without under cover, track rollers, centre guard, full roller guard, grease bath and step, and under covers for the track frame.
Work Equipment
Boom assemblies are listed in 7.0 m form for both 500-hour and 100-hour greasing, with top and bottom pin groups, bucket cylinder line, arm cylinder line, blind parts, lubricating line, working lamp and spacer, and the additional piping lines and clamps. Boom cylinders are covered for 100-hour and 500-hour lubricating types, arm cylinders for the 2.4 m and 3.4 m arms in standard and heavy duty form, and bucket cylinders for 500-hour and 100-hour service. Arms, bucket links, bucket cylinder hose and lubricating lines, additional piping, valve and spacer are all itemised, followed by bucket options from 1.7 m3 through to 3.8 m3 in vertical and horizontal pin types, side cutter, side shroud and bucket hook.
Marks, Plates, Accessories, Miscellaneous and Service Kits
Decal and plate sets are listed in English, English STD, English LC and English LC KI spec, with lubrication standard chart plates for 500-hour and 100-hour greasing, windshield lock caution plates, Komatsu logos, arm and guard caution plates, air cleaner service instructions and swing or backing-up warning plates. The accessory section covers the spare parts set, cap and overall kit, and the tool kit including wrenches, hammer, bar, grease pump assembly and sockets. Miscellaneous covers the fuel self supply pump, extended bad fuel and poor fuel arrangement spec with water and dust protection, blind parts for body and 1-actuator, blind parts for the burst valve, export tool and engine drain hose. The services kit section reproduces swing machinery supply parts, shoe bolt and nut kits, track link supply parts, air cleaner and precleaner inner parts, fuel self charger pump inner parts, rubber antenna, operator’s seat assemblies, and the full inner parts breakdowns for the main pump, boom cylinder, arm cylinder, bucket cylinder, swivel joint, swing motor, travel motor, main valve in both 20 and 23 part sequences, PPC valve, accumulator, filters, breather, accumulator valve and air conditioner unit.
What This Parts Book Lets You Do
Ordering the right part on a PC400-8 or PC400LCSE-8 comes down to one thing: knowing the exact part number for your serial number. This catalogue gives you that for every assembly on the machine, from a single O-ring in the main valve to a complete counterweight, from a track shoe bolt to a bucket cylinder service kit. You can verify what is included inside an assembly before you order it, check whether a superseded part is still supplied as a set, and confirm whether a component is shared between the standard and LC undercarriages or specific to one of them.
That matters most in the places where guessing gets expensive — hydraulic fittings and flanges, common rail fuel components, drift-preventive and attachment piping, and the many option-specific brackets and hoses fitted to machines built with additional actuators, fuel refill pumps or vandalism protection. The exploded views also make reassembly order obvious, which is useful when a machine has been apart for a while or when a previous repair left something in the wrong place.
