Opens with the intended use of the truck, the meaning of the warning symbols used throughout the manual, and a technical description of the Series 386 range. Explains the two steering axle designs โ the turntable axle fitted to E12, E14, E15, E16 and E18, and the combi-steering axle fitted to E16, E18 and E20 โ along with the drive, steering, hydraulic, braking and electrical systems. Includes the takeover checklist, initial commissioning tasks and the documentation supplied with each truck.
2. Safety
The safety chapter sets out the regulations, the correct behaviour in the event of a tip-over, handling of fluids and lubricants, the definition of an expert, operation of industrial trucks in plant areas, and the determination and assessment of hazards. Includes the emergency exit procedure for trucks fitted with an attached rear window.
3. Overview
Rating plate layout, a full vehicle overview with numbered components, the location of operating elements and the complete indicator unit layout. Every warning and status light on the display is identified, from battery discharge and motor temperature through to service interval and lift height indicators.
4. Operation
The largest chapter, covering running-in instructions, daily checks, driver’s seat and steering column adjustment, seat belt use, switching the vehicle on and off, two-pedal and single-pedal driving, the braking system including the Linde Brake Control (LBC) and parking brake, warning horn, lifting system and attachments for both central lever and single lever operation, emergency cut-off, lighting, windscreen wipers, heating and Linde Forklift Data Management (LFM). It then covers working under load โ adjusting fork arms, taking up and setting down loads, driving under load, towing, loading and transport, crane lifting, and leaving the truck.
5. Servicing
The full inspection and maintenance overview programme with interval scopes A to H, inspection and maintenance data, recommendations for working materials (hydraulic oils, transmission oil, lubricating grease, battery grease, chain spray), checks prior to starting work, and every maintenance task from battery charging and replacement through to wheel gear oil changes and hydraulic oil replacement. A troubleshooting section covers fuses, the diagnostic connector, fork carriage emergency lowering, towing regulations, shutdown and disposal of old vehicles.
6. Technical Data
Type sheets for every battery configuration across the range โ E12, E14, E15, E16, E18 and E20 โ with identification data, weights, axle loads, tyre sizes, tilt angles, lift heights, travel and lift speeds, traction force, climbing capability, drive motor and lift motor performance, and battery specifications.
7. Circuit Diagrams
Wiring diagrams for the basic equipment across four pages, plus a complete hydraulic circuit diagram covering the operating hydraulics, steering control valve, drive axle, oil tank and brake valve.
Why This Manual Matters
Electric forklift trucks are expensive industrial assets. Running one without the correct operating and maintenance information risks damaged hydraulics, shortened battery life, brake failure and unsafe load handling. This Linde Series 386 operating instructions manual gives you the exact procedures, torque values, oil specifications and inspection intervals the truck was designed around. Whether you are a fleet manager keeping E12 to E20 trucks in service, a technician performing the 500, 1000, 3000 or 6000-hour maintenance, or an operator who needs to understand the indicator unit, the LBC brake system or the emergency lowering procedure, the answers are here in one document.
The manual covers both turntable axle and combi-steering axle variants, both two-pedal and single-pedal drive layouts, and the standard and special equipment versions. Technical data type sheets list capacities from 1.2 t on the E12 through to 2.0 t on the E20, so you can confirm the exact figures for your truck rather than relying on generic data.
