1 Introduction
Sets out the scope of the Linde RX60 operating instructions, the obligations the forklift owner carries under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178 and ANSI B56.1, and the responsibilities that fall on the operator before and during every shift. It also defines the hazard message system – Caution, Warning, Danger, Note and Environment Note – that is used consistently across the rest of the book, plus the rules on proper use of the truck.
2 Safety
The safety chapter walks through everything that must happen before operation: the operator daily checklist, the correct operating position with seat belt fastened, pedestrian awareness and right-of-way, travel rules for smooth and dry surfaces, lifting and lowering technique, behaviour on inclines, ramps, docks and elevators, and the full set of rules for avoiding falls and tip-overs. Suspended loads, parking, battery safety, maintenance safety and personnel qualifications each get their own subsection. The chapter reproduces the complete text of every operator warning decal fitted to the truck – sit-down rider warnings, trained operator, test/service, never stand or walk under forks, do not lift personnel, crushed fingers, no step, tip-over and back-up alarm – along with the data plate layout, parking brake, voltage and other decals. Hazardous substances are covered in detail: oil flammability and toxicity, pressurized hydraulic oil, battery acid, and the environmental notes for each.
3 Overviews
Technical description of the RX60 platform: the transverse-mounted drive axle with single drive motor, differential and reduction gears; the three-phase AC asynchronous drive motor; the hydraulic system with brushless AC pump motor, priority valve and three- or four-spool control valve; the hydraulically operated rear-wheel steering; and the combined electric/mechanical brake system with wet-running discs in the drive axle. Simple, dual and triple mast construction is explained, as is the 80-volt electrical system with its dual CAN bus circuits, inverters and supply unit. A numbered truck components diagram identifies 24 major assemblies, and separate layouts cover the display unit, the dual-pedal and single-pedal driver’s compartments. Direction definitions, vehicle marking, data plate contents and the list of mast variants, attachments, system options, cabin options and operating environment options complete the chapter.
4 Operation
The largest chapter in the manual. It begins with unloading and preparing a new truck and then covers adjusting the operator’s seat (position, suspension, backrest, lumbar support, heater, headrest, armrest), setting the steering column tilt, the seat belt, turning the truck on and off, the emergency stop switch, the horn and the full display window with its configuration menus for language, time, date, daily distance and daily operating hours. Drive program selection and the Blue Zone efficiency mode are explained next, followed by the parking brake, steering system and the driving sections for both dual-pedal and single-pedal trucks, including electric and mechanical braking, changing direction and the neutral position. Fork position adjustment and the hydraulic controls (lift, lower, tilt, third and fourth function attachments such as sideshifters and clamps) come next. The chapter also covers lights and the back-up alarm, cabin equipment including door, emergency hammer, side windows, interior light, heater and rear window defroster, wipers and washers, towing loads with the towing pin, use in cold environments and the cold storage package, opening and closing the battery cover in both low-profile and full-length versions, changing the battery, connecting the battery to an external charger, towing the truck itself, manual lowering of the fork carriage, securing the truck for transport, hoisting and long term storage.
5 Maintenance
Opens with personnel qualifications and cleaning guidance, including how to clean lift chains safely. The operator inspection and maintenance section reproduces the Linde Electric Sit-Down Lift Truck Operator’s Daily Checklist and then works through every daily check in detail – fluid leakage, overhead guard, hydraulic cylinders, lift chains, fork carriage, battery cover latch, battery connector, steering axle, hydraulic oil level, decal condition, control lever bellows, anti-static strap, wheels and tires, seat and seat belt, washer system and the operational checks. The scheduled maintenance section then lays out the tasks required at 1000, 2000 and 3000 operating hour intervals, with the summary chart listing everything from drive axle fasteners and gear oil changes through to mast roller clearance. Fluid and lubricant specifications give the hydraulic oil, final drive gear oil, grease and chain spray grades, plus the capacities for both the 25/30/35 and 40/45/50/50/600 groups. The troubleshooting section shows the main panel and optional equipment fuse layouts, explains the fault display and warning messages, and provides the full fault code list with each code’s meaning and the recommended operator response.
6 Technical data
A dimension reference drawing for the RX60 series is followed by detailed specification tables for every model – RX60-25C, RX60-25L, RX60-30C, RX60-30L, RX60-35, RX60-40, RX60-45, RX60-50 and RX60-50/600. Each set covers general data, weights, wheels and tires, dimensions, performance data, drive motor and battery ratings, and the working pressure and flow rate for attachments. Mast heights for simple, dual and triple masts are tabulated with fully lowered height, free lift, lift stroke and extended height, so the right mast can be identified and its capacity verified against the data plate.
Why the Linde RX60 Series Operating Instructions Manual Matters
Electric counterbalanced trucks in the RX60 range are heavy, high-throughput machines, and the difference between a safe shift and an incident often comes down to whether the operator followed the correct procedure. This manual is the document Linde issued for exactly that purpose. It tells you the proper operating position, the correct way to travel on a ramp with a load, how to apply and release the parking brake, how to change a battery without damaging the cable or the chassis cut-out, and what to do when the truck starts to tip. On the maintenance side, it gives the daily checklist and the scheduled intervals so wear items are caught before they become breakdowns, and it lists the fluid grades and capacities so nobody tops up with the wrong oil.
For a technician or fleet supervisor, the troubleshooting chapter is the practical core of the book: the fuse assignments for the main panel and the optional equipment, the meaning of each warning message such as PARKING BRAKE, SEAT SWITCH, CLOSE THE DOOR and EMERGENCY SWITCH, and the fault code list covering overheating, accelerator and brake sensor errors, steering sensor faults, direction switch problems, hydraulic sensor faults and control unit malfunctions, each with a comment on whether the truck can still be driven and what to check first.
