Time allowance :

• The times quoted in this publication are the result of a careful study of each of the operations mentioned. Special cases are not allowed for. In establishing the repair times, a tractor in average condition has been used. The tractor is assumed to be clean and to be bare of any extra equipment or attachment of non “Massey Ferguson” manufacture, and delivered to an authorized and duly equipped workshop where trained personnel and spare parts required to perform the operations are immediately available.
• No allowance has been made for inacessibility of parts, removal of special fitments, freeing seized parts, extraction of broken bolts or studs, or subsequent repait after test. Additional time could be allowed in case of factory fitted special equipments. The repair times are based on work carried out by one mechanic alone, except for certain operations needing the assistance of a second or third operative for a short time : eg : splitting the tractor betwwen engine and gearbox.
• The total time quoted includes these additional times, but is considered as work which would normally be carried out single-handed. Allowance has been made for setting up the tractor inside the workshop and for any necessary cleaning of parts involved in the operation being carried out. The times given in this Repair Time Schedule are for a complete job from start to finish, including allowances for intermediate operations.

Special codes :

To reduce the proliferation of failure codes, a special numbering system has been set up to cover certain general types of failure. This system consists of two figures placed after the first 4 figure group which defines the part or group of parts concerned.
