Proper adjustments of the Vickers pump requires that three (3) adjustments to the pump controls be made:
1. The adjustments should be made with the unit at normal operating temperature. If possible, drill a few holes with unit to warm the hydraulic system. Unload the pump. (Drill/Tram switch in Tram mode)
2. With the pump in the unload mode, the pressure gauge will indicate standby pressure. Standby pressure should be 450psi . The pressure is adjusted with the 1/2″ hex screw on the pump compensator control. Loosen the 11/4″ jam nut and turn the hex screw clockwise to increase the pressure
and counter clockwise to decrease the pressure.
3. Use a 3/18″ hex key to remove the #4 o’ring boss plug. Refer to the left handside of the attached diagram – early pumps had only one (1) plug, but later units are equipped with two (2) plugs located side by side. Remove the plug that is not located in a counter-bore. This will expose the maxmum pressure adjustment. This adjustment is done with a 1/8″ hex key. Turning clockwise will increase the pressure and counter clockwise will decrease the pressure.

4. With a screwdriver, remove the dust cover located on the opposite end of the compensator control. This will expose the differential pressure adjustment screw. This adjustment requires a 5/32″ hex key. The same procedure as described above is applied to make the adjustment.
