Description
Sinotruk MC11 Series Engine Maintenance Manual โ 2012 PDF Workshop Guide
The Sinotruk MC11 Series Engine Maintenance Manual is the working reference for anyone servicing the MC11 family of heavy-duty diesel engines, published by China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Co., Ltd. in December 2012. It covers the complete engine from the front drive gears to the flywheel housing, written around the MAN D20-derived architecture that underpins every MC11 variant. This 315-page PDF is the same document technicians use in the workshop โ organised by system, with step-by-step removal and installation jobs, torque tables, special tool references, and a full malfunction and troubleshooting chapter.

Chapter I โ Engine Introduction
The opening chapter sets out the MC11 engine’s general architecture: the vermicular graphite cast iron crankcase with its deep-skirt structure and cracked main bearing caps, the micro-alloyed steel crankshaft with seven main journals and four counterweights, the cracked forged connecting rods, the steel piston with two compression rings and one oil scraper ring, the single-section grey cast iron cylinder head with overhead camshaft, the forced-feed lubrication circuit, and the thermostat-controlled cooling system with its poly-V-belt driven coolant pump. Characteristic data tables follow for the Chinese III, Chinese IV and Chinese V emissions variants โ covering the MC11.43-30, MC11.39-30, MC11.35-30, MC11.31-30 group, the MC11.44-40, MC11.40-40, MC11.36-40, MC11.32-40 group, and the MC11.44-50, MC11.40-50, MC11.36-50, MC11.32-50 group. Displacement is listed at 10.518 L with a 120 mm bore and 155 mm stroke, 19:1 compression ratio, firing order 1-5-3-6-2-4, intake valve clearance 0.5ยฑ0.03 mm and exhaust valve clearance 0.8ยฑ0.03 mm in the cold state, and a 40 L oil sump capacity.
Chapter 2 โ Component Removal and Installation
Ten sections walk through the engine system by system. Engine electrics covers the oil pressure sensor, intake temperature pressure sensor, water temperature sensor, camshaft signal sensor, speed sensor, rail-pressure sensor and fuel pressure sensor, each with its tightening torque and removal procedure, plus the engine control unit (EDC) with its bracket and harness connections. Cooling system details the fan, fan bracket (including axial and radial play checks and the slide ring seal extraction), coolant manifold, thermostat and housing, water pump and distributor housing. Engine components deals with the air compressor, starter, belt drive and alternator, including the poly-V-belt tensioner and the alternator pulley removal using the special spanner. Intake and exhaust covers the three-section exhaust manifold, suction line, intake manifold and turbocharger. Cylinder head gives the full cylinder head removal and installation with the illustrated 26-step tightening sequence and 90ยฐ final torque stage, valve clearance checking and setting (intake 0.5ยฑ0.03 mm, exhaust 0.8ยฑ0.03 mm, EVB 0.6ยฑ0.03 mm), and valve stem seal replacement. Valve timing covers the camshaft, camshaft bearing shells, TDC mark checking, and the rear timing gear train. Fuel supply walks through injectors and rail, the high-pressure pump, and the fuel service centre. Engine lubrication covers the oil module, oil sump and intake pipe, oil injector nozzles, oil pump with its outer rotor axial and radial play checks, and the front and rear crankshaft oil seals. Engine housing covers the flywheel housing, front cover and wet cylinder liners. Crank mechanism covers the damper, flywheel, pistons and conrods, crankshaft, and front drive gears.
Chapter III โ Malfunction and Troubleshooting
Nine troubleshooting sections cover electrical malfunction, engine difficult to start, insufficient power, high fuel consumption, abnormal smoke, lubrication system malfunction, high water temperature, early wear-out and abnormal noise. Each section lists possible causes paired with the troubleshooting action โ useful for quick diagnosis on the shop floor when a fault code, an oil pressure complaint or a smoke symptom has to be pinned down to a component.
Appendix โ Tool and Spec Reference
The appendix is a working reference in its own right: the MC11 Series Engine Maintenance Special Tool List with Sinotruk and MAN part numbers side by side, the chief screw bolt, nut, plug and pipe fitting tightening torque and final tightening table, the primary parts and components fitting clearance chart, and the sealant application list for Loctite 5900, Loctite 243 and Loctite 2701. Threads, torque values and clearances throughout the manual are specified exactly as printed, e.g. M18ร2ร246-10.9 for the cylinder head bolts, M16ร1.5ร81-12.9 for the flywheel bolts, and 0.200โ0.401 mm for crankshaft axial play.
Why This MC11 Workshop Manual Matters in the Shop
The Sinotruk MC11 Series Engine Maintenance Manual is built for the jobs that keep a truck on the road โ pulling the cylinder head, replacing the front or rear crankshaft oil seal, chasing a low oil pressure complaint, diagnosing an engine that cranks but won’t fire, or tracking down an abnormal noise under load. Every procedure carries its tightening torque, every wear check has its permitted range, and every special tool has its Sinotruk and MAN part number listed so you can buy, adapt or cross-reference what you need. The MC11 engine’s common-rail fuel system, EVB engine brake, cracked conrod design and wet cylinder liners are all covered in plain workshop language, with the illustrations to match.
