All M809 series vehicles in this manual are powered by the Cummins NHC-250 – a naturally aspirated, liquid cooled, overhead valve, four-cycle, in-line six-cylinder diesel. It runs a 15.8 to 1 compression ratio and develops 240 horsepower at 2100 rpm, with peak torque of 560 lb-ft at 1600 rpm. Both early model engines (before serial number 1124663) and late model engines (after serial number 1124663) are covered, including the clean air configuration and the change to top stop fuel injectors.
