- Section 3 – Drive Unit: drive unit assembly, transmission and differential, traction motor, drive wheel and tire
- Section 4 – Steering System: steering pod, shift lever, steering control unit, steering hydraulic, steering cylinder, gear pump, steering motor, steering axle, steer wheel and tire assembly
- Section 5 – Brake System: brake pedal, master cylinder, hydraulic brake assembly, park brake (seat actuated), park brake linkage (lever actuated and seat actuated by serial number break), brake switch harness
- Section 6 – Hydraulic System: hydraulic, hydraulic pump (12 cc, 19 cc, low noise), hydraulic motor mount, hydraulic motor AC (DC closed construction, open construction), tilt cylinder, control valve attaching parts, hand lever, control valve three function, control valve four function, hydraulic tank, mast installation
- Section 7 – Lifting Mechanism: outer mast, intermediate mast, inner mast, main lift, free-lift, main cylinder (left and right hand), free-lift cylinder, carriage, carriage assembly heavy duty – across two stage limited free-lift, three stage full free-lift, two stage full free-lift and four stage full free-lift configurations
- Section 8 – Attachments and Header Hose Group: integral side-shift carriage, integral side-shift cylinder, integral side-shift hydraulic hoses, header hose for each mast type
- Section 9 – Options: brake and back-up lights, LED back-up and brake lights (date break 04/2004 and after), drive and rear lights, strobe light, spot light, DC to DC converter 36/48 volt to 12 volt, back-up alarm, wire harness rear lights, wire harness switch, wire harness traction cut-out, battery slide and roller tray

What You Can Do With It
Because this manual uses Yale’s own truck model nomenclature to distinguish assemblies, the model code stamped on the truck nameplate tells you which power, tyre and mast group a given machine carries. That matters when you order parts: the ERC 040 and 050 GH trucks do not always share fork, carriage or mast components with the ERC 060 and 065 GH, and the manual separates them accordingly. The forks section alone is split into two tables with capacity, length and taper keys so the correct fork can be matched to the truck.
The book also carries serial number breaks and date breaks throughout. Park brake linkage pages are divided at serial A908V02782C and A908V02783C. Wire harness main pages are divided the same way. LED back-up and brake light pages apply from D/B 04/2004 onward. Seal kits and glands in the cylinder sections change at D/B 02/2004. Knowing these breaks is the difference between ordering a part that fits and one that does not.
Section-by-Section Practical Use
For driveline work, Section 3 lays out the drive unit assembly, the traction motor, the transmission and differential, and the drive wheel and tyre in exploded view. Section 4 covers the whole steering chain, from the steering pod and shift lever through the control unit, hydraulic circuit, cylinder, gear pump and steering motor, down to the steering axle and the steer wheel and tyre assembly.
For braking, Section 5 gives you the brake pedal and master cylinder breakdown, the hydraulic brake assembly, the seat-actuated park brake and the lever-actuated park brake linkage, plus the brake switch harness. Section 6 is the hydraulic heart of the machine: pump options in 12 cc, 19 cc and low noise versions, motor mount, AC hydraulic motor in closed and open construction, tilt cylinder, the three-function and four-function control valves, the hand lever assembly, the hydraulic tank and the mast installation.
Section 7 is the largest part of the book and covers the lifting mechanism in all four mast families – two stage limited free-lift, two stage full free-lift, three stage full free-lift and four stage full free-lift. For each, the outer mast, intermediate mast, inner mast, main lift, free-lift, main cylinders (left and right hand), free-lift cylinder and carriage are itemised and illustrated. Section 8 then handles the integral side-shift carriage, its cylinder, its hydraulic hoses and the header hose routing for each mast type.
Section 9 deals with the optional equipment on these trucks: work lights, LED brake and back-up lights, strobe, spot light, the 36/48 volt to 12 volt DC converter, back-up alarm, the rear light and switch harnesses, the traction cut-out harness and the battery slide and roller tray. Section 10 gives the field conversion kits that let a dealer or fleet workshop change a truck’s configuration after delivery – control valve function changes, mast tilt changes, electrical additions, directional control swaps, battery roller sets, tube extensions, fenders and hose take-up kits.
Finding the Right Part Number
The manual includes a dedicated How to Find the Desired Part Number section that explains three routes: by function and application through the section tables of contents, by the next higher assembly through the alphabetical index, or by part number through the numerical index in Section 11. It also explains the footnote and key system – letters A through E in the quantity columns tell you which variant a part belongs to, and two periods in a quantity column mean the part is not used on that assembly. Five periods in the part number column mean the part is either not serviced separately or is referenced to another figure.
Why This Manual Matters
Ordering parts for an electric lift truck by guesswork is expensive. The wrong mast roller, an incorrect gland or a seal kit from the wrong serial range means a machine sitting idle while the part goes back. This manual gives you the actual Yale part numbers, the quantities required per assembly, the keys and footnotes that separate one truck variant from another, and the serial and date breaks that govern which revision of a component your truck was built with.
It also identifies lift equipment correctly: fork part numbers, capacity ratings, plant codes and dates of manufacture are stamped on the forks, carriage group numbers are stamped on the carriage crossmember, mast identification numbers carry a unit code plus carriage travel in millimetres, and tilt and lift cylinder group numbers are stamped on the cylinder shell. The manual tells you where to look, so you can confirm what you have before you order.
