Description

The 2010 Evinrude E-TEC 115 130 150 175 200 HP Service Manual is the complete technical reference for the 2010 model year Evinrude E-TEC 60Β° V4 and 60Β° V6 outboards. Published by BRP US Inc. Technical Publications, this 456-page PDF covers the 115, 130, 150, 175 and 200 HP families in both the 1.7 L (105.4 cu in) V4 and 2.6 L (158.2 cu in) V6 displacements. It walks through every major system on the engine: the water-cooled Engine Management Module, the 55 V ignition and charging circuit, the high-pressure fuel and oil injection systems, two-stage cooling, powerhead internals, midsection, gearcase and the trim/tilt hydraulic unit.

Written for qualified, factory-trained marine technicians, the manual is laid out as a straight reference path. Identify the model from the designation chart, read the safety section, then move directly to the system that needs work. Every chapter opens with a service chart of torque values and lubricant callouts, followed by step-by-step disassembly, inspection and assembly procedures backed by exploded illustrations and photographs.

This manual is more than a table of contents with pictures. It is the same organised guide a dealership technician would follow when a 2010 Evinrude E-TEC 115, 130, 150, 175 or 200 HP comes in for diagnosis or repair. The EMM chapter explains how the water-cooled engine controller manages alternator output, the 55 V ignition and injector circuit, oil injection pump activation, idle speed and the RPM limiter, and how to read the four LED indicators that flag charging, crankshaft position, sensor and stop-circuit status. The System Analysis chapter turns those LEDs and the stored service codes into an actual troubleshooting path. If you need to know why an outboard runs low on power or misfires, the dynamic cylinder drop tests, ignition control circuit tests, fuel pump static test and running fuel system tests give you a structured method instead of guesswork.

Below the powerhead, the gearcase section is unusually detailed. It separates standard rotation and counter rotation service, covers the “S2”, “O”, “L2” and “M2” housing types with their different gear ratios, and includes the driveshaft shimming procedure used to set pinion gear backlash after replacing a thrust bearing, bearing housing, pinion or driveshaft. The water pump chapter, shift rod height adjustment, gearcase leak test and propeller hardware installation are all included, along with the tools and torque values needed to do the job correctly.

What You Can Do With This Manual

  • Read and clear EMM service codes, then follow the stored-fault path to the faulty circuit
  • Test and replace ignition coils, stator, crankshaft position sensor, capacitor, TPS, temperature sensors and the exhaust pressure fitting
  • Diagnose and repair the high-pressure fuel system β€” lift pump, vapor separator, circulation pump, fuel manifolds and injectors
  • Prime and troubleshoot the oil injection system, including break-in oiling and the LOW OIL / NO OIL warning circuits
  • Service the two-stage cooling system: thermostats, pressure relief valve, water pump, intake screens and EMM/vapor separator cooling passages
  • Remove, disassemble, clean, inspect and reassemble the powerhead β€” crankshaft, pistons, connecting rods, cylinder heads, reed plates and throttle body
  • Remove and install the gearcase, rebuild the water pump, set shift rod height and shim the driveshaft
  • Service both standard rotation and counter rotation gearcases, including propeller shaft bearing housings and forward gear assemblies
  • Test and repair the trim and tilt unit β€” relays, motor current draw, gauge and sender, three-piston and single-piston hydraulic systems
  • Adjust timing pointer, verify ignition timing, calibrate TPS, index spark plugs and set trim tab and tilt limit

Why Correct Procedures and Specs Matter

Evinrude E-TEC outboards depend on the EMM talking to sensors that are sensitive to small voltage and resistance changes. A TPS that reads slightly out of range, a sensor supply circuit that drops below 4.75 V, or an exhaust pressure fitting clogged with carbon will all change how the engine runs, and the manual’s service code chart tells you exactly which threshold triggers which response. Torque values matter just as much: connecting rod cap screws, crankcase main bearing screws, flywheel retaining nuts, cylinder head screws and the pinion nut all have staged tightening sequences and specified values. Using the wrong sequence or an uncalibrated torque wrench can distort a crankcase, damage a bearing or leave a rod cap misaligned. The gearcase shimming procedure is a good example β€” pinion backlash is set by measuring clearance against a shim gauge bar and subtracting from a fixed dimension, so skipping the step leaves the gear set running with the wrong contact pattern. Having the correct procedure in front of you is what separates a repair that holds up from one that comes back.
