Gehl R220 and R220 X-Series Skid-Steer Loader Parts Manual – 50950171 Rev D
This is the complete illustrated parts manual for the Gehl R220 (EU) and Gehl R220 X-Series skid-steer loaders, published under document number 50950171 / DP0317 at Revision D. Every assembly on the machine is broken down into exploded drawings with numbered callouts, and each callout is tied to a parts list that gives the part number, the full description and the quantity required. If you are ordering a replacement lift cylinder gland, chasing a hydraulic tube back to the main control valve, identifying a wiring harness branch, or confirming which decal belongs on which panel, this Gehl R220 parts manual is the reference the parts counter works from.

Across those four sections the Gehl R220 parts manual covers the machine end to end – from the chassis weldment, belly pan and clean-out cover through to the decals on the rear door. It documents both DPF and Non-DPF engine installations, both the standard and high-flow auxiliary hydraulic systems, the single-speed and two-speed drive motor arrangements, and the Hand/Foot, Dual Hand, Dual Joystick and T-Bar control configurations, with the relevant tube, hose and linkage part numbers listed for each. The exploded views are numbered so you can match a component on the machine to a callout on the drawing, then read straight across to the parts list for the number you need to order.
How the Parts Listings Are Organised
Each drawing is followed by a table with columns for the reference number, part number, description and quantity. Fastener callouts carry their size and thread form directly in the description, for example hex flange locking screws in 5/16 x 3/4, carriage bolts in 1/2 x 1-1/4, or spiralock nuts in 1/2. Where a part needs a lubricant or a non-standard torque value, that requirement is printed in parentheses behind the part number description rather than being listed separately.
Two conventions in this manual are worth knowing before you start ordering. First, dimensions throughout are given in inches unless a listing states otherwise. Second, where an item appears on a drawing without a part number, it is shown for reference only and is not available for purchase as a separate line item – useful to know before you ring a dealer about a bracket that turns out to be part of a larger weldment. The manual also carries an abbreviations table covering everything from AR (as required) and NSS (not sold separately) to ROPS, FOPS, CCA and Nยทm, plus the fastener torque values on the inside back cover.
A small symbol key appears at the start of the illustrated sections explaining the workshop practices assumed by the drawings: apply hi-tack gasket adhesive, apply oil-resistant RTV, apply pipe thread sealant, and shim as required. Those symbols tell you when a joint is sealed rather than simply bolted, which matters on the chaincase covers, fuel sender gasket and hydraulic fittings.
Serial Number Breaks and Why They Matter
Gehl revised several assemblies during R220 production, and this manual records those changes rather than hiding them. Listings note break points such as SN 173931 and Before against SN 173932 and Up, SN 173612 and Before against SN 173613 and Up, SN 174453 against SN 174454 and Up, SN 174858 against SN 174859 and Up, and SN 175634 against SN 175635 and Up. There are also narrower exceptions – individual serial numbers that sit outside the main sequence and still take the earlier or later part.
In practical terms this means the same machine can take two different ROPS fillers, two different tapping screws at the clean-out cover, two different brake tube routings or two different pump assemblies depending on when it was built. The manual spells out which number applies, which replacement part supersedes which, and in some cases which bolt to use with which filler. Checking the serial number plate before ordering is the difference between a part that fits and a return.
DPF and Non-DPF Machine Differences
Separate parts listings are given for DPF and Non-DPF models in the engine, air cleaner/exhaust, HVAC and sound suppression sections. Engine-mounted components are listed for the DPF configuration with the Yanmar 4TNV98CT-XNMS/T4 and separately for the Non-DPF Yanmar 4TNV98T. A governed engine speed specification table is included alongside the DPF engine drawings, and the HVAC sections are split by serial number so you can match the heater housing, condenser assembly and hose routing that belongs to your build.
Order the Correct Part the First Time
A parts manual does one job and does it properly: it removes the guesswork from identifying a component. Instead of photographing a broken bracket, measuring a hose by hand or hoping the dealer recognises a description over the phone, you find the assembly on the exploded drawing, read the callout, and order the exact part number with the correct quantity – including the fasteners, seals, O-rings and clamps that are so often forgotten on the first order. That is particularly valuable on the hydraulic and electrical sections of the R220, where several tubes and harnesses look similar on the machine but carry different part numbers for the left and right sides, for standard versus high-flow auxiliary hydraulics, and for single-speed versus two-speed drive motors.
The same applies to the kit and accessory listings. Knowing that a Cab Door Kit, Rear Wiper Kit or Power-A-Tach Kit is broken down into its individual service parts means you can replace the one failed component – a wiper arm, a latch, a gas spring, a seal kit – instead of buying the whole assembly again.
