Section 1 — Safety Precautions

Sets out the general safety rules for operating and maintaining the machine. Covers pre-operation requirements, workplace inspection, trip and fall hazards, electrocution hazards with the full Minimum Safe Approach Distance (M.A.D.) table, tipping hazards, crushing and collision hazards, towing, lifting, hauling, maintenance hazards and battery hazards. The fall-protection harness and lanyard anchorage guidance, along with the electrical clearance chart from 0–50KV up to 750–1000KV, are all reproduced here.

Section 2 — User Responsibilities, Machine Preparation & Inspection

Explains operator training requirements, training supervision and operator responsibility, then details the pre-start inspection, the daily walk-around inspection, and the function check from both the ground and platform control stations. The inspection and maintenance table gives the frequency and responsibility for pre-start, pre-delivery, frequent, annual and preventative maintenance. Tilt-versus-height and high-drive-speed cutout tables are included for each of the five models.

Section 3 — User Responsibilities and Machine Control

Describes the ground control station, platform control station and the Multifunction Digital Indicator (MDI). Covers the platform/ground select switch, emergency stop switch, lift/lower switch, drive/lift select, steer switch, horn, trigger switch, capacity select switch, tilt indicator, overload indicator, and battery discharge indicator. The decal location legends for the 1930ES, 2030ES, 2630ES, 2646ES and 3246ES are provided with a complete table of part numbers by market.

Section 4 — Machine Operation

The main operating chapter. Covers the platform/ground select switch, emergency stop, raising and lowering, arm guards, platform extension, fold-down rails, steering, driving forward and reverse, parking and stowing, battery charging with flash code tables, platform loading, safety prop, tie-down and lift lugs, lifting, and towing procedures — including remote electric brake release, push button electric brake release and mechanical brake release. The complete Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) check tables are included, covering help comments, power-up, platform controls, ground controls, function prevented, line contactor, ground output driver, thermal limit, battery supply, communication, accessory, electric motor, tilt sensor, platform load sense and hardware faults.

Section 5 — Emergency Procedures

Covers emergency stop switch operation, manual descent, and emergency operation including what to do when the operator cannot control the machine, when the platform is caught overhead, and when righting a tipped machine. Post-incident inspection and the mandatory incident notification procedure are also included.

Section 6 — General Specifications and Operator Maintenance

Provides operating specifications, dimensional data, motor and battery specifications, platform capacities, tire specifications, critical stability weights, hydraulic oil recommendations and lubrication specifications. The operator maintenance procedures cover the hydraulic oil check and the tire and wheel replacement procedure, with the wheel torque chart and tightening sequence.

Section 7 — Inspection and Repair Log

A blank inspection and repair log for tracking maintenance and repairs performed on the machine.

Why This Manual Matters

Whether you are a fleet owner, a rental company, a site supervisor or an operator, having the correct JLG 1930ES/2030ES/2630ES/2646ES/3246ES Operation and Safety Manual on hand is not optional — it is a requirement.
