General and Truck Description

The opening chapters set out correct application, approved application conditions, proprietor responsibilities and the rules for adding attachments or accessories. The truck description then walks through the ETX layout in detail: travel direction definitions, assemblies and functional description, the deadman button logic, drive system, brake system, steering, controls and displays, and the electrical system. This is where the mandatory safety distances for rail-guided (100 mm) and wire-guided (125 mm) trucks are stated, along with the EN 1726-2 minimum safety distance and the conditions under which the truck must not be operated in a narrow aisle.

Technical Specifications

The performance data, dimensions, mast versions, weights, wheel and chassis data, engine data, EN norms and electrical requirements are grouped here. Readers will find capacity figures for both the standard attachment and the telescopic table, load centre distances, travel, lift, lower, traverse and rotate speeds, turning radii, aisle widths, ground clearances, mast heights and lift ranges for the ZT and DZ masts. The section also documents the noise emission level of 65 dB(A) and the vibration data, together with the stability rules covering battery, mast, wheels, attachment and load.

Transport and Commissioning

This chapter covers the two accepted transport methods (mast assembled or mast dismantled), crane lifting with mast assembled, lifting the basic truck, lifting the mast and lifting the battery by crane. Detailed strap points and lifting gear warnings are included, followed by the transport retainers for the basic truck, the mast and the basic truck with the mast still fitted. The commissioning sequence covers moving the truck without a battery, installing and removing the mast, first commissioning and checking the tilt safety device.

Battery

Everything the operator needs for the lead-acid traction battery is here: safety regulations, battery types, battery compartment dimensions, exposing the battery, charging, and battery removal and installation both with a battery roller stand (single-part batteries) and using a fork lift truck (two-part batteries). The “battery lock” sensor option, including how to move the truck when the retainers are not in place, is documented as well.

Operation

The largest chapter of the manual. It begins with the safety regulations for truck operation and then covers the displays and controls on the control panel, the driver’s display, the hourmeter and the bar-display and percentage-display battery discharge indicators, plus the full set of driver’s display function symbols. From there it moves into preparing the truck for operation, using an additional access code, daily operational checks, Main Lift referencing, date and time setting, emergency disconnect, travel, steering and brakes. Narrow-aisle work is treated in depth, including rail-guided and wire-guided negotiation, diagonal travel, lifting and lowering inside and outside aisles, traversing and rotating, and secure parking. Order picking and stacking covers fork adjustment, fork replacement, and lifting, transporting and depositing loads from the side and from the front. A troubleshooting chapter lists fault, possible cause and remedial action, followed by the emergency stop device, load handler emergency lowering, travel/lift/lower cutout overrides, end-of-aisle safety device, WG emergency operation and truck recovery from a narrow aisle. The Personal Protection System (PPS), optional equipment and the Floor-Spot are all covered in the closing sections.

Industrial Truck Maintenance

Operational safety and environmental protection, maintenance safety regulations, lubricants and the lubrication schedule are set out first, with consumables handling and the lubrication chart. Maintenance and repair procedures include preparing the truck, opening and closing the drive compartment cover, checking electrical fuses with the fuse ratings and controller display, preventing the load handler or mast from accidentally lowering, lift chain servicing and inspection, the hydraulic system, checking the hydraulic oil level and restoring the truck to service. Decommissioning, safety tests at intervals and after unusual incidents, final decommissioning and disposal, and human vibration measurement close the chapter.

Maintenance, Inspection and Changing of Maintenance Parts

The final chapter lists the maintenance contents for the ETX 513-515, split between owner tasks (every 50 service hours, at least weekly) and Customer Service tasks (every 1000 service hours, at least annually). It also documents the recommended replacement intervals for maintenance parts such as hydraulic oil, hydraulic oil filter and seals, and transmission oil.

Appendix: JH Traction Battery Operating Instructions

The appendix reproduces the Jungheinrich traction battery operating instructions, covering correct use, the battery data plate, safety instructions, lead-acid batteries with armour plated cells and liquid electrolyte, PzV and PzV-BS sealed batteries, the Aquamatik water replenishment system, electrolyte circulation, cleaning, storing, troubleshooting and disposal.

Why This Operating Instructions Manual Matters

For the ETX 513 and ETX 515, the difference between a truck that runs reliably for years and one that keeps going down is almost always procedure and specification discipline. This manual gives you the correct daily checks, the correct safety distances, the correct battery charging and removal sequence, the correct Main Lift referencing steps and the correct maintenance intervals. It also gives the technician the fuse ratings, the hydraulic oil level procedure, the lift chain inspection criteria and the emergency lowering method when something has gone wrong. Whether you are commissioning a newly delivered truck, training a new operator, recovering a machine from a narrow aisle or planning an annual service, the relevant section is here in full.
