Description

Komatsu GD655-5 Parts Catalog – Serial B40001-Up, Expanded Edition

This is the expanded parts catalog for the GD655-5 motor grader, published for machines from serial B40001 onward. It is built the way a working parts book should be: every assembly is opened up into an exploded illustration, each callout is keyed to a numbered index, and each index line carries the part number, the description exactly as Komatsu lists it, the quantity required, and the serial number from which that part applies. Where a component changed partway through the build, the figure header shows the break — several engine and cooling figures are flagged #B40016-, so you know at a glance whether the line you are reading matches your machine.

The expanded edition is the reason this file runs to 485 pages. Rather than stopping at the major assemblies, it carries the internals as separate figures: alternator and starting motor broken down to bearings, retainers and brush assemblies; the transmission split into case, forward high and 1st speed clutch, 2nd and 3rd housing, 4th speed clutch, power takeoff gear, relief valve, control valve, piping and accessory; the cooling fan motor taken apart across three figures; the main control valve opened up across ten. That depth is what separates a catalog you can order from and one you can actually diagnose with.

Engine, Cooling and Fuel

The engine group starts small and specific: air intake connector and tube with its bracket, clip, nuts and washers; heat shield with its covers, brackets, rods and twenty-plus fastener lines; exhaust muffler and mounting bracket; breather hose and clip; oil pan drain band. Flywheel housing is broken out with its screw, spacer and plate. On the cooling side the radiator is the headline figure — radiator and oil cooler assembly, cushion, shroud, aftercooler, core assembly, oil cooler assemblies, plates, bonded seals, bolts, washers, O-rings, spacers and caps — followed by the oil cooler as its own figure and the cooling piping with hoses, clamps, nipples, valve, tank, cap, brackets and clips. Fuel is covered by the fuel tank figure and by the additional filter assembly, head, cartridge, bowl, valve assembly, sensor and tube, all listed line by line.

Electrical System

Batteries and terminals, the battery box with 90 Amp alternator (bracket, relay and fuse, battery cable, disconnect switch), and the disconnect switch hardware are all here. The 90 Amp alternator is catalogued as a full sub-assembly — rotor, collars, ball bearings, bracket assemblies, retainers, packings, field coil, stator, rectifier, bushings, nuts, screws, washers, regulator assembly, pulley and fan — and again as an installation figure with its guard, cover and plates. The starting motor, 5.5KW, is exploded to springs, frames, pinions, rollers, retainers, seals, brush assemblies and O-rings. Wiring harness sections cover the main harness, head lamp, rear harness, engine harness, transmission harness and differential lock harness, plus front lamps, front and rear working lamps and the horn.

Transmission and Torque Converter

This is the deepest part of the catalog. Transmission oil filler with tube, gauge, cap assembly, gasket, chain, O-rings, elbow and hose; transmission case front and rear with plugs, covers, gaskets and the full bolt and washer schedule; forward high and 1st speed clutch down to discs, plates, wave springs, seal rings, thrust washers and bearings; 2nd and 3rd housing; 4th speed clutch; power takeoff gear with gears, bearings, collars, holders and lock nuts; relief valve and control valve assemblies with seats, spools, ECMV assemblies, bands, O-rings and filter assemblies; transmission piping with strainer, cover, nipples, tubes, bolts and clips; and the accessory group with valve assembly, sensors, elbows, breathers and brackets. The torque converter is presented across three figures — pump, bearing, turbine, stator, free wheel, housing, case and pilot. Mounting is covered separately.

Axles, Frame and Hydraulics

The front axle group covers axle support, housing, tie rod and rod ends, the leaning cylinder internals (cylinder, piston rod, head, bushings, seals, back-up rings, piston, wear ring, nylon nut), the LHS cylinder internals, reduction gear, shaft and related parts. The differential lock rear axle is catalogued in fifteen figures: center case, bevel gear, differential, torque shaft in two parts, parking brake, case, tandem tube, sprocket chain, mounting bolts, brake caliper internals, tandem A drive, tandem B drive and tube. The frame section gives front frame, rear frame and hinge pin with shims, seals, bushings, bearing and cover hardware. Hydraulic coverage runs from the hydraulic tank through the 9-spool and 10-spool main control valves (ten figures each), the piston pump, gear pump and cooling fan pump, steering piping, floor valve, front frame valve with and without blade accumulator, ripper-configuration piping in twenty figures, front hydraulic piping, and transmission cooling piping.

Operator’s Compartment, Guards and Work Equipment

The cab section is unusually complete for a parts book: operator’s seat down to foam kits, suspension, damper and arm rests; ROPS cab with low height and KOMTRAX, inner trim, cab harness, air pull-out device, front glass, wipers, both doors, both door locks, door open locks, seals, air conditioner duct, antenna and glass brackets; rearview mirror, floor mat, window washer, air conditioner unit and piping, cab heater piping and radio. Brake control covers the brake accumulator, related parts, brackets, adjust cylinder and mounting hardware; brake piping covers the main runs. Guards and covers include the engine hood with pre-cleaner auto dust eject — hood, side covers, head cover, grille, mask and radiator cover, rear combination lamps, air cleaner and its related parts for both #B40001-B40023 and #B40024- — plus front frame cover, under cover, tool box, ladder, pusher and weight. Tires and rims are listed as front RHS, front LHS, rear LHS and rear RHS assemblies with rim, side ring, lock ring, O-ring, valve stem, core, seat, adapter and cap. Work equipment covers drawbar and circle, blade and circle lifter, the 3.7 m and 4.3 m blades with end bits, edges, bolts and nuts, power tilt cylinder, ripper and ripper shank, circle revolving unit, blade lift cylinder, blade shift cylinder, drawbar shift cylinder and articulate cylinder.

Marks, Plates and Field Repair Service Parts

Decals and plates are grouped three ways — Portuguese pictorial type, Spanish-English, and caution plates — with plate, decal and tag part numbers for danger, warning, service instruction, symbol and model-mark items. The auxiliary section lists the spare cartridge and the general tool set, and the field repair section closes the catalog with numbered service kits: transmission, transmission control valve, transmission piping, leaning cylinder, steering cylinder, front blade cylinder, ripper cylinder, blade lift cylinder, blade side shift cylinder, power tilt cylinder, drawbar side shift cylinder, scarifier cylinder and articulate cylinder, each with its constituent O-rings, seal rings, packings, wear rings and dust seals.

Why This GD655-5 Parts Catalog Belongs in the Workshop

Ordering the wrong part on a grader is expensive and slow. A seal ring that looks identical but belongs two serial numbers later will not seat; a bracket that carries the same description but a different part number will not line up with the holes. This catalog removes that risk by giving you the index number from the illustration, the exact part number for that index, the quantity, and the serial applicability — the three pieces of information a dealer counter needs before they will even open the order screen.

It also does something a plain parts list cannot: it shows you how the assembly goes together. When a blade lift cylinder comes off and the packing, back-up ring, wear ring and dust seal all end up in the same tray, the exploded view tells you the order they go back in, and the parts table tells you which of them are supplied in the service kit rather than individually. The same is true of the ten-figure main control valve, the three-figure cooling fan motor and the torque converter sequence.

Because the coverage runs from the air intake connector at the front of the engine to the ripper point at the back, one file answers the whole machine. Whether you are rebuilding a tandem drive, chasing a transmission control valve leak, replacing a cab door lock or simply restocking the filters and seals you burn through in a season, the figure and the line item are already in front of you.

Delivery is immediate. The PDF lands on your account the moment payment clears — no shipping, no waiting on a parts counter to photocopy a page. Keep it on the laptop in the service truck, on the tablet on the bench, or print the two or three figures you need for the job and let them get dirty. Every index number stays legible at print size, and the file opens on any device that reads a PDF.
